Pezus wrote video, you understood audio. Congrats.

lol you are wrong... the same basic principles for video and audio codecs here... change what I said for I don't know h.264 and MPEG-2... uses a MPEG-2 video with resource less or a h.264 to use all your CPU resources.

Games use dedicated solutions like this, ethomaz: http://www.radgametools.com/bnkmain.htm There are geniuses at work, believe me.

Also, who cares for the ressources? If a console has to play a video, there is no gameplay. They can use whatever they want while playing the videos. This is different to audio. Oh, almost forgot: lol you are wrong

Oh please ethomaz, talking about bad comparisons... The Sims 3 complete, yes. Talking about content. We are discussing a single game for PS4 here, an fps. And yes, every content makes a game bigger, even if it's a few bytes. You can't argue that. But I see, you won't discuss the 50 GB, you only use smoke granades. And don't say who in this thread knows what and adds to size while you are no programmer yourself. This is *very* thin ice for you.

You're being a hypocrite.  You're making a big deal about the file size of a game you know nothing about.  You haven't even mentioned that, if it's like Uncharted 3, you probably won't have to download the whole file.  3D movies on UC3 were over 10GB, I'd bet anything they're even larger on KZ:SF.  Language packs are close to 1GB each.  Why would you not mention that?

You can also DL the multi- and single-player parts separately.

And the comparison to Crysis 3, a highly enclosed FPS, to KZ:SF, which has much more open environments?  You don't think much larger playable environments would have an impact on file size?  And, yes, Crysis 3 is last gen, in that the base game was designed to fit on consoles, which means making all kinds of sacrifices in content, level sizes, AI functions, and the number of NPCs and on-screen events.

You are right about the non-gameplay part... sorry... but I give you a example FFXIII and the terrible compressed videos and it fits over 15GB on 360 (3 discs).

It *is* a big deal, literally. You don't care? Fine, I do. And why do you starting a question with an "if"-sentence?

To me the game is too big, I've said enough to this. You don't agree? Nice, I don't care. My point still stands, as we all don't know how big all parts are so 50GB would be ok: They could've done smaller.

Yeah, that was bad, but I blame Squenix. Especially I don't like ingame-videos nowadays. This is so 90s to me!

And you think anyone else would care about your opinion when it's clear you're attacking without any knowledge of the game whatsoever?  That you're ignoring that it's very possible, even probable, that you won't need to DL the whole thing?  That you're comparing the size of next gen games to last gen games, which were almost always severely restricted in content because they had to fit on last gen consoles?

It's a massive file size, no doubt.  Personally, there is no way I could DL that.  However, that you went into attack mode immediately, without even knowing what is going to be the norm for next gen games of this type, without even knowing how much of that is required, doesn't seem logical.

I was wondering about many people in defense mode, so... yeah, whatever.

Suddenly a 500GB HDD does not seem big enough.

Exactly, those comparisons to Crysis 3 were silly. Yes, on a high-end PC, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better looking game right now (save Metro: Last Light), but Killzone is 100% next gen, and closer to the original Crysis in scope.

I don't expect much issue with the file size, though. Gone are the nap causing days of PS3 installs.

It's funny that people don't realize that alot of last gen games were reusing textures most of the time and that is what led to the small game sizes. Games like rage practically don't reuse textures very often and the funniest thing is that it clocks in at 20GB while having mediocre textures at the same time.

This is really weird reading some of these responses. I live in TN. An area that normally is behind the times when it comes to anything. I just within the last 3 years got Cable and internet service on my road and I am getting a free upgrade tomorrow to 100mbs a second. I can get 1gig a sec for 12.00 more a month. making it 69.99. I wonder where some of you live to be so far behind me. I get about 10mbs a second DL now with 50mbs internet. This should at least jump to 15 tomorrow if all goes well. I could download the entire game in an hour or so
