By this time, the Wii U should have had its first "Heavy Hitter" like Gears of War or Soul Calibur or Sonic the Fucking Hedgehog. When first generation Xbox One or PS4 titles hit the market, the Wii U should have had a title that made people say "Hmm...I can wait." or "THAT is why I need a touch screen controller!"

This Christmas, the Wii U will have titles that will sell but it won't have that wow factor. Remember when the PS2 launched virtually the same day as Majora's Mask? That's how Nintendo used to roll. They'd have their biggest gun ready to open fire on those mark ass bitches. This Christmas is EXTREMELY important! The competition has arrived and they are going to be bringing nothing but their best game from the time they arrive until the time they die in an effort to beat each other. Nintendo has made themselves something of a non-player so far.

It's not too late. It's never too late. Nintendo just squandered their lead. They should have either launched before 2012 or they should have waited until now to launch with some revolutionary software.

It's very important. They need to make money. 3DS should ensure a nice profit for them on that angle. But they also need to get Wii U's into people's homes. They need to get up to about 10 million users asap to make it a viable platform. I think they'll do it. The Zelda bundle seems to be drawing a lot (more) of attention, and their's more to come. A healthy number of sales for Wii U would be good, and if 3rd party titles like Watch_Dogs and COD sell well, that would do wonders.

I'm hoping they do a bit of a re-launch of sorts. I was in Gamestop with my girlfriend one day last week buying The Walking Dead for the Vita. She mentioned getting a Wii for Christmas. I showed her the Wii U. The controller wasn't even turned on. I explained to her that I had one and that it was awesome. Told her about the video messaging, the ability to control the TV with the controller, about Miiverse, playing without the TV, etc. Her reply was, "Should I get this when I get my Wii?"

Nintendo has done nothing to make people aware of the Wii U in the United States. They need to pretend the last year never existed and launch a marketing blitz for the "new" Wii U.

It will be huge. People will be buying games for their families this year, upgrading from previous years and they will once again choose Nintendo, and likely move on to PS/Xbox in the future. Holidays are always a very big time for Nintendo, but something tells me that customers are ready for Nintendo content this year more than last.

Yeah, highly crucial. It'll determine if the Wii U will sink or swim...but I'd say up until March is really the important time for that.

It will surely be one of the most important holidays for Nintendo - or Wii U.
Not only will they be able to gauge people`s desire for the console, they will see that when it goes against PS4 and XB1.

It will not be an easy period, specially at retail. But Wii U has the games to sell the system. What it really needs is a way to get people`s attention and understanding of what the product is.

If Nintendo can sell Wii U's and 3rd party titles it will be a major victory, and help with 3rd party support for next year. Now really is the time. If they don't, they'll have some trouble unless the other new systems also falter.
