Forums - Nintendo - Are gaming journalists still biased against Nintendo ?

I dunno, maybe fans could just accept that Nintendo games don't always deserve 10's from every site. I'm a huge ninty fan, but sometimes they put out shit.

Can't wait for super mario 3d world to get raped by the critics. Seriously f*** Nintendo for making that game.

Typical stupid fanboys. "My game got below a 90. F U reviewer!"

Seriously, this doesn't apply to only nintendo fans but fanboys are idiotic. Didn't mario galaxy 1 and 2 get a 98 on metacritic?

Yes, they want Ninty to stop making consoles and handhelds and port all their franchises to the iOS/Android market.

Bad system?  Are you saying that a system that doesn't sell terribly well is a bad system?  How exactly are you defining "bad system?"

And no, I don't think they are right about the Wii U now.  You know why?  Because they are making future predictions about the Wii U and making baseless assumptions about the system.

Here let me make it obvious to you on what a bad system is. A BAD SYSTEM IS WHEN THE MARKET LARGELY REJECTS IT !!!

Was that a better definition of a "bad system" ? (In terms of public reception ofcourse)

You realize the WII U is doing poorly compared to its unprecedented predecessor. Oh and BTW if the super mario 3D world fails to make the market flood then what ?

Why is all the pressure just on Mario 3D World? one single game isnt going to resurrect a console on its own. luckily Nintendo isnt banking on one game and has Wind Waker HD, Wii Party U, Wii Sports Club, Wii Fit U, DKC Tropical Freeze, Sonic Lost World, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Mario 3D World releasing in the last quarter of the plus a price cut and more appealing bundles. If all that along with Mario Kart and Smash Bros doesnt rejuvenate Wii U sales then it will be safe to say it will be the next Gamecube.

Do u also consider Dreamcast and the original Xbox as bad systems as well?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I have yet to see anything to suggest there is an industry-wide bias against Nintendo.

So, no.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Each and everyone of them!!!!

gamespot is blatantly biased against Nintendo. Others? not really.

IGN has been rather anti-Nintendo for years now. At least since about 2009/2010.

Game Trailers has also had a negative slant in most of their reviews, even of good games.

In general, yes, I would say there has been a negative, anti-Nintendo bias that has been building in gaming media since the GC era, at least.

A) But do games like CoD: Modern Warfare, or GTAV, or The Last of Us, or whatever the new flavor of the moment is, deserve to get universal praise from "every site" either?

B) Just because what little you've seen doesn't appeal to you, doesn't mean it isn't going to be a good/fun game. It also doesn't mean that it's going to get shit on by critics. I'm sure some will, and I'm sure you'll do backflips of gamer-rage joy. But many will also give it high praise, guaranteed.

After seeing pikmin 3 and wind waker hd scoring above 85 are the majority gaming journalists still wishing destruction upon nintendo ?

(Be honest nintendo fans)

Honestly ? Yes.... they are. The majority of the so-called "gaming journalists" always face Nintendo products with negativism

But I wouldn´t call it "gaming journalism". In fact, most of the so-called game journalists are just players like you and me. They´re not real journalists.  The majority have the tendency to be very, very partial when reviewing a product (game or console or acessory or whatever), when it was expected from them to be balanced and impartial and technical as much as possible.

On the contrary, every game full of shooting and crime and war with a M rating gets praised, and if one of those three elements is missing the game is scorned. It feels like those guys look at videogames as a way to reinforce some kind of maturity they actually don´t have. Or trying to reinforce to other journalists that gaming can be taken seriously if they just give attention to mature content.

The fact is that gaming journalism is something that it´s not still taken seriously by the big media conglomerates around the world, despite of the enourmous amount of money that this market moves every year, and one of the reasons is this short-sighted view, this dumb attitude towards family-friendly content on videogames, and, as a consequence, all negativism that they insist in put on the table when talking anything about Nintendo.

Do movie critics desdain or despise Disney and Pixar cartoons ? No. Do literature critics despise children fantasy books ? No. Do music critics despise very young talents ? No. Then why gaming journalists need to despise a company that focus its productions on fantasy and family fun?

I wonder if all of this simply just big lobbying, after all, who wouldn´t want to have Nintendo franchises on its platforms?
