No. I said eShop sales were less than 150k. They were 100k.
Famitsu combines Download Card into normal retail sales (which also explains the discrepancy between the two).

Do you have the bundle sales for MH3P bundle? Also, where did MC get the eShop sales (and I was entirely correct with my previous post that got some angry responses)? |
I think they can get the Download Card number the same way they get the retail copies, and I reckon the eShop number can only be known from Nintendo.
But, it would appear that there were around ~250k digital sales, which would be more than you said.

So how to we account for MHP3rd discrepency?
Famitsu - 2,146,467
Media Create - 1,950,717
I thought it was well known that they have large gaps in their numbers. Look at AKB for isntance.
MC - 27k
Famitsu - 18k
Or Brothers Conflict Brilliant Blue:
MC - 15k
Famitsu - 20k
Or scroll down the rest of the list and see how wide their gaps range. Extrapolate that to nearly 2 million units and you start to get gaps in the hundreds of thousands....just like MHP3rd - 300k gap.

There are always discrepancies, but Famitsu including download cards into their overall number accounted for the difference (although I thought bundles were included in both, but numbers listed in kyuubi's post say otherwise).
The explain the difference for MHP3rd, I would think they included bundles into their number where media create did not. That makes sense to me.

OK, let's ay they did include them. Then we have a discrepency of:
MC - 1.715
Famitsu - 1.875 - .155 = 1.720
Incredibly doubtful they'd be within 5 thousand of each other for a nearly 2 million selling game when they are barely within 5 thousand from a game that sold under 20k (Brothers Conflict Brilliant Blue).
WAIT A MINUTE.....it's Media Create that is claiming 155k download cards, not Famitsu. That means the actual retail sell through for each is:
MC - 1.715 - .155 = 1.560
Famitsu - 1.875
Hmmm....another 300k unit discrepency. Just like MHP3rd.

Expect the big series in Japon other games is doing terribly on 3DS
PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m
Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

To doom, or not to doom, that's the question.

Media Create ALWAYS tracks bundles. Capcom shared that week that MHP3 shipment was 2 million first week. And that's what Media Create said:
[PSP] Monster Hunter Portable 3 (Capcom) {2010.12.01} - 1.950.717 <95,08%>
So, it's just a typical discrepancy between trackers, overtracked in this case.
What matters is that in the end, both trackers agreed:
Famitsu
Monster Hunter Freedom 3 - 4.502.446
Monster Hunter Freedom 3 (PSP the Best) - 324.206
Media Create
Monster Hunter Freedom 3 - 4.532.557
Monster Hunter Freedom 3 (PSP the Best) - 317.793

Well, no. MC isn't combining cards with the normal sales which is the only way we could possibly have separate numbers.
@ hiska
If they do, how (and why) did Kyuubi separate it all and then add them together to get a total?
