Just a small but noticable fix. 2013 is the first year we're going to see a MonHun multi-plat release.

not really, gta5 will sshine over everybody but in japan charts MH4 will dominate ( i know you said ww) but its kinda not fair to say gta5 will take its thunder away am i right :) vita models will give a boost, i think they'll do 50k-80k that week but sony trying to take away sales from pokemon which imo is welll... idk but i think they did it that week specifically cuz they dont want vita to get killed in numbers! this week 3ds outsold vita 45:1, if they would of release new vita model a week before they could of bragged they got higher sales for the 2nd time which isnt really an accomplishment, but hey vita model will do good either way

You mean because of 3 Ultimate being on 3DS/Wii U? Technically that makes it multiplatform, but you know what I meant. Portable 3rd was also multiplatform since it was released on PS3.

MonHun online PS3/Wii U this year. Although Wii U version arrives couple weeks later.
Check out my Upcoming Wii U Games 2014 Thread
3DS Friend Code: 4553 - 9954 - 4854. Name - David
Very good result. Exclusivity didn't hurt one bit.

No, I was meaning Frontier coming to PS3U.
I'm sure we could get into a discussion involving "but that doesn't count because it's an MMO"; but it does remain a Capcom-developer Monster Hunter title that showed that multi-platform releases for the series certainly aren't off the table.

Ahh, yeah, forgot about that one. It's already been on PC and 360 though, right? I could simply say that it wasn't developed as a multiplatform game, but simply ported to more consoles years after release.

MS was huge on PSP and we already have a few games selling quite well on PSV in Japan...common sense says the game will sell very well on PSV (maybe not milions but definitely over a million). I also doubt that porting the 3DS vesion of the game or developing both versions at the same time will be overly costly. These are handhelds at the end of the day...not homes consoles with overly complicated architectures.

That completely assumes that the 3DS maintains its current numbers and that the Vita version also does 1m+ copies, which I HIGHLY doubt would have happened. Especially since doing both versions would also take more time as well, which would in turn make it cost even MORE money for BOTH versions. There's no guarantee that making a PS Vita version would have optimized profits. It may as well have hindered it, because having both versions the PS Vita version would either have sold 500k or less, or the 3DS version would have decreased sales (which in turn still can account for worse profits for Capcom). I'm not saying it isn't possible for it to have "optimized" profits, but it's conjecture... and bad one at that. |
Dev costs for handheld games have never really been very high. It would be relatively easy to recover those costs. It wouldnt even need to sell millions really or even a million.
@bolded if you feel going multiplat was more likely going to hurt sales then we have a fundamental difference in opinion. I base my opinion on how games sell on home consoles and just in general. More platforms means more sales ( i cant think of a case where this wasnt the truth). And i think MH is a pretty strong franchise in Japan that can easily sell millions on both the 3DS and PSV.
Please, dont mistake me for some disgruntled PSV fanboy. I dont own the system and probably never will. But to suggest that the best option for Capcom was to go with 3DS exclusivity to maximise profits, revenue and brand growth...? Especially when they have an established fan base on the competeting console's predecesor. I think thats plain wrong. But anyways il leave it at that. I was just surprised by the amount of people arguing against Ryuzaaki (hes point about the game being paid for by Nintendo, not the part about it being inferior etc.).
