Forums - Nintendo - about 70% of DS sales came under $130

What % of its lifetime was it under $130. Also it was under $130 within a year.

They aren't comparable situations, just like the $199 magic prophecy of exploding sales for the PS3 wasn't comparable and was never going to happen despite constant mention of it.

I thought this was parody thread of that.

Well there's also inflation and all that to consider. $130 in 2005 or so isn't the same as $130 in 2013, so in comparison 2DS is actually going to be quite a bit cheaper than DS Lite was at the time it exploded.

Isnt the economy also worse now than in 2005? Is it possible for those to cancel each other out?

I personally don't think it'll reach the 3DS, but it will definitely sell a lot.

U mean DS? I think 3DS will probably be about 120m

Yeah, I meant that. I should really start proofreading.

I'm expecting a price cut next year (3 years after the first price cut), bringing the 2ds down to $99, the 3ds to 129 and the XL to 169.

I was thinking the 3DS and XL would get a price cut in 2014 but now that the 2DS has been announced I can imagine them riding it out until 2015, depending on how well it sells.

I think they wouldn't cut the price in 2013 for sure since there's no competition. but 2014 it starts to ask for a lower price, considering it's the same it was 3 years before.

True. Well it's hard to tell in any case, because so many factors are very different. We'll have to wait amd see. Fact is, 3DS is doing fantastic, although I don't expect it to reach its predecessor's lofty sales totals.

I think the 2DS will bomb.

Although I think the 3DS and 3DS XL will do extremely well over the next 6 months.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

DS lite was superior to the OG DS. 2DS is the complete opposite, so it won't have the same effect IMO.

I don't think its really a price thing really, its just that the software on the DS broke boundaries and reached new audiences. The 3DS just caters to core gamer and kids.

It's funny because the Best Buy's in my area often have $129.99 sales on the 3DS (regular model) all the time.

It was $129.99 today for the blue and pink models. I think Nintendo's been test running that price point at retailers for the last year from time to time pretty regularly.
