GTA V would be great for Nintendo. But Nintendo has superior games on sales. Not just that but on quantity also. Remember, one game will not do much as a complete library. Nintendo has been releasing their library since Pikmin 3.

No, nothing beats GTA V

Anyway, I don't think it would have had much impact. I doubt that it is going to bring in many new gamers who didn't want to play GTA IV and any gamer interested in GTA type games is going to be better served with a PS or Xbox.

I think it might be effective if it was the start of a long campaign from Nintendo to ensure the big 3rd party games also came to the Wii U without being comprimised. The problem is that I feel they are behind on online such that the 3rd parties miss out on all their extra revenue that they need/want.

Ni, nothing beats GTA.

GTA on WIi U wouldnt have much impact

Then it obviously isnt that important of a game.

"The problem is that I feel they are behind on online such that the 3rd parties miss out on all their extra revenue that they need/want."
What? That doesnt even make sense.  Either you are saying because the Eshop doesnt have as many options as PSN live, developers wont get sales because of less competition. OR You dont realise Wii U has DLC. OR you actually think they make money off of people playing online. Either one, it just doesnt make any sense at all. However I from your past post that it doesnt need to make sense as long as its negative about them but that is probably the silliest comment I have ever read and I frequent N4G dude.

The rest of the post explains why I don't feel it would have much impact. It is still going to be the best game of the year

I know it has DLC, but it doesn't like things like Origin (EA) or all these weird persistent universes. There is obviously a reason that some third parties have been skipping Wii U and I think part of it is the online set up. I know that is improved this gen, but I still think that it is behind PSN and XBL. They also do effectively make money from people playing online, that is the whole strategy that the main 3rd parties have been going for this gen. Keep people playing online, so they don't sell the game, and so they can sell them map packs, very simple.

Essentially, the issue boils down to Rockstar Social Club. Will Nintendo allow that service to work on top of their own online infrastructure and take information from the games elsewhere or will they stop that as that is very important for GTA Online.

That's a has been franchise and Watch Dogs is the brand new.

I agree! "has been awesome in the past, and will continue to be"

But don't worry, once they see the Wii U Watchdog sales, they will literally beg Nintendo to allow them to put GTAV on the Wii U

That would be great for the Wii U, but it's just not for me.

Imagine for a second that Nintendo manages to make GTA V a timed exclusive for one or two months.

Imagine.

It'll boost Wii U sales for sure. But it'll also piss millions of people off, and cost Nintendo hundreds of millions of dollars. I don't even think Rockstar would risk damaging the Grand Theft Auto brand.

Why would having the game on Wii U damage the GTA brand?

I was talking about if it was a timed exclusive for Wii U.

The problem is this: Nintendo thinks that people love Mario, Zelda, Metroid and Donkey Kong.
People could not care less for this.
What people loved was the inovation these games brought to the table back in the day.
- The worlds and plataforming of Mario were cool in the 80´s
- The adventure of little Link on Zelda was compelling.
- The mistery and atmosphere of Metroid
- the beautiful graphics of Donkey Kong.

That is why the WII sold so well, it was brand new, motion controllers and everything. Of course, in the end people got a little bored, but they got hooked first, and, in bussiness, that is quite enough sometimes.
Now Nintendo gives a DS game with HD graphics and call it a new Mario, put Luigi in the same game and call it a brand new release.
I know these games are obligatory, Nintendo HAS to make them because that is what made them back in the day.
So, as I see, Nintendo has 2 options: Be a kiddy console, for the children, or, change the pace, pretty fast.
I think, however, that most of us subestimate the appeal of the first option. If I had a kid, I would give him a WIIU with a bunch of kiddy games, and it is perfect, because none of his friends would have the console, so no one would loan him CALL OF DUTY or other violent games.
I don´t know what the future holds for Nintendo, but as I see it now, old school franchises will grant them nothing but a moderate success.

That said, GTA5 is not on the WiiU because rockstar would never release a half baked port like others devs do. And, the install base do not justify the work. Just that.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

This article would have made more sense for Sony. Nintendo has its own franchises that sell the system. No one has ever bought a Nintendo system for GTA they buy it for Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Metroid and other popular Nintendo established brands.

Sony on the other hand has always thrived on having the best from everywhere. They make great first party games, and they have great third party support. Paying for GTAV to come to Vita would completely change the outlook of that system. GTA on Vita would sell at least 1 million units and I am not talking software here, GTA would sell 1 million units of hardware at least.

Sony dropped the ball badly allowing GTA IV to come to 360 and they are dropping it again not getting GTA on Vita.

Indeed, GTA timed exclusivity did wonders for PS2.

I think the problem of GTAV not being on WiiU is the message behind it. If it's not on the WiiU, GTA6 won't be (It would'nt be either way, but the message is clearer now). And what else won't be? NO GTA we assume no MGS, no FF, no ME, no BF etc...etc....

GTA on WiiU would have helped delivering a message of third party support, no matter if true or not.

So, you are saying gta 6 won't be on ps4/xone?

Oh you so smart.

GTA5 is not a game that meshes well with the Nintendo croud.

It most definitly is not needed. Nintendo consoles are family friend or second console consoles. For hardcore gamers it will never be enough, but it will be required because of all the exclsuives. Thats what makes Nintendo systems unique and desiarable. The exclusive software. The multi-plats dont mean anything. No one buys a Nintendo console for the multi-plats.

Move along.
