There's food in music?

Pretty hard for a game to be memorable without a lot of things.
Sure Bioshock 1's story was awesome but if the setting and atmosphere of the game was not the graphics that it was then I do not think it would be memorable.
I think given that everything else is lackluster, gameplay would keep you coming back just because it is still a fun game to play.

You do bring an interesting point here. Games with amazing stories, but sub par gameplay are the kind of games that you just play once and probably never going to play again.
For me it would be like 9 hours 9 persons 9 doors, I mean that game has one of the best stories of any game I've ever played, but the gameplay is just getting out of a room to escape...it's not bad but it isn't breathtaking either. The problem is that I already experienced the story, I already know the characters backstory and the ending. So there really isn't much sense in playing that game again.

Oh yeah!

For me, it's the music. FF9, FFX, Xenoblade, Metroid.....if the score is beautiful I will never forget it. That probably has alot to do with me being a composer myself, but yeah, biggest factor by FAR.
depends from game to game. even sound and graphics from time to time. when i think back about my amnesia playthrough i think mostly about the right usage of sound. and uncharted 2 for graphics. i didn't play uncharted 2 because of the graphics but that is what i still think about from time to time, how awesome some stuff looked for that time. i don't really think about the story or gameplay anymore even when i played the game because of that.
when i think about the the walking dead game i think about the story and when i think back to something like a total war game it's the gameplay.
For a first time purchase it's all about graphics! But you ask what makes it memorable...
Games are living art. I like to replay my favorite games again and again every few years. Good Graphics don't hold up over time. Good Gameplay never gets old. A Good Story loses its surprise. My imagination can make up story and visuals. But the gameplay needs to be solid and addicting for me to wanna play again and again.

That is actually a tough question and can be any aspect of a game. Generally what is most memorable is the strongest element of a given game, if there are no strong elements I just forget the game.
