No, it wasn't. It was on par with the current gen but slightly better not "dramatically better". Next gen blows the Wii U's graphics away. When a CNN female anchor asked Reggie about the power of the next gen consoles he brushed the question off and tried to emphasize the graphics of the Wii U which is old and tired tech at this point. Now when they are far behind in graphics yet again Reggie wants to say graphics don't matter. He was caught by the media and people on Youtube. What he said was 100% pure hypocrisy.

Oh the irony...

I've played BLOPS2  on the Wii U. The graphics at slightly more crisp, but the framerate is basically the same and the handling isnt as comfortable as the current gen consoles, even with the Pro controller. Unlike most, I can actually say I speak from experience.

That's not the point, (though I'd disagree about handling, Wiimote blows away analogue) Im just aying, first you say it's not more powerful, then you admit it in the next sentence.

I've also played COD:WOW on my friends Wii and it is rather fun, but I still prefer the controller.

As for the statement, no. Read more closely to what I wrote. Last year, Reggie was emphasizing the graphics of the Wii U over current gen consoles as if they already won some graphics war and the female anchor wasn't impressed, she basically alerted him to intel about the next gen consoles and he brushed it off stating "lets wait and see". There are video responses on Youtube about what Reggie said with people pointing out that if the rumors were true (which they were) it matters not how good it looks above current gen consoles. Secondly, the graphics were not "dramatically better" as he put it, they were slightly better. I've played all 3 and it goes Wii U>Xbox 360>PS3. Even the WIi U version of Ninja Gaiden was on par graphically with the current gen.

The guy you were replying to said Wii U was the most powerful console on the market. You said it wasn't, then in the next sentence said it was.

If minute issue was what he's talking about yes, for a year Nintendo had the most powerful console on the market.

Its true. Graphics aren't nearly everything anymore. Its become less and less relevant as it should be.

Thats not what he said last year when he thought the Wii U was going to be the most powerful console on the market.

It was though.

I stand by what I said before. Graphics mean nothing these days. The leap isn't nearly as noticeable, neither is the comparison with Wii U and PS4/Xbox1. What it comes down to for every system is games, plain and simple.

Graphics mean nothing these days, which is exactly why Epic told Nintendo to use UE3 for the Wii U, correct? The power and graphics  requirements have shifted and Sony and Microsoft have delivered specs so next gen games can finally be created, which the Wii U cannot handle. If they didn't need it to differentiate the games from this generation they wouldn't have asked. Multiplayer on a next gen level will not be available to Nintendo and neither will expansive games that get past 1GB. basically after the first year and a half of life the next gen consoles will have left Nintendo in the dust in RAM requirement alone. Western developers are the ones to ask about next generation tech specs, not Japanese third party.

Yep...for the features...not the name.

Thats a really bad example. While it is true that consumers build brand loyalties, the consumer for a mobile phone and the consumer for game consoles are not the same. Though obviously, still cross, theres alot of phone consumers that do not have the extra expenses of gaming and can afford to waste more money on their brand phone.

Also the game was missing AA, there where some levels where you could see the jaggies on the shadows.

Noticed that too? The two games in BLOPS2 and Ninja Gaiden 3 games had jaggies, but yeah I always questioned why I saw them more on the Wii U. I also got some slowdown. Could it be a similar issue that hurt the PS3 with framerate in comparison to the 360 with multiplats?

"I don't think consumers buy hardware just because it's sexy and new."

Reggie confirming he thinks Xbox One and PS4 are sexy

His body was ready for them
