Forums - Nintendo - Now what is the biggest reason you are on the fence about getting the Wii U?

You've got a few years before Nintendo dumps it. They have a history of sticking to their guns at least for the first 4 years, whether the thing is a massive success or huge failure..

The factor holding me back at this point is pricepoint, and the current lack of DKC, Smash Brothers, Mario 3D World, and Mario Kart. Once those console drops to $250 (for the NON GIMPED version..) and said games are releaesd.. THEN I'm onboard.

Right now the console has about 2 games OUT NOW that I'm interested in.. NSMB U, and Monster Hunter and maybe Pikmin 3.. In other words, nowhere near enough.

And yes, I did say $250 for the GOOD version of the console.. That tablet controller may have been where a great deal of the manufacturing cost comes from, but the problem is, I don't really care about that controller, so I personally don't put that much value in it.

Well, someone keeps making threads that make me really doubtful about whether I want one. If that guy would just fucking stop, I could blow my three hundred UK dollars without a second thought.

Do it, ignore the doom threads and spend that moolah..Wii U is awesome, Pikmin 3 is worth getting a Wii U for alone.

i dont like nintendo games

U act like the Wii and motion controls werent a big deal

I'm strictly talking about hard core gaming.

Wasnt NES pretty casual back in the day?

You ever see old people in nursing homes playing Ninja Gaiden, Kid Icarus and/or the first Metroid? lol. Hell, people who've never plays games in their entire life probably couldn't even get to the first castle in SMB lol.

U ever see people in nursing homes playing Monster Hunter Tri, Xenoblade Chronicles, Metroid Prime 3?

Three great games that were absolutely outsold by Wii Sports, play and Fit.

Ninja Gaiden, Kid Icarus and Metroid are three great game that were absolutely outsold by Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt and Tetris

A 70 year old non gamer couldn't play those three games either lol.

Not worth shelling out $300 yet. I still feel the burn from buying the 3DS at launch, after being patient and picking up DS and Wii in 2009 and 2010 respectively. Once Donkey Kong Country comes out it'll be hard for me to resist, and I'd probably go insane if I didn't buy a Wii U before X is released.

Are you serious? U dont think an old non gamer could play Duck Hunt or Tetris? If u honestly believe that then u are extremely ignorant

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

The reason a large portion of people are on the fence about the Wii U is third party. Nintendo fans will buy the Wii U regardless. This will amount to about 30-40 million people WW. Research the migration of third party from Nintendo to Sony and the marketshare Nintendo once commanded and Sony gained as well as expanded upon to understand this.

Caution: Do not use the Wii as an example.

Lack of money.

The Nintendo first party titles will be enough for me, but I really wish I could get a good deal.

I do remember my grand mothers playing duck hunt and world class track meet. Very core titles. One of which is one of the best selling games on the system.

While I enjoy Nintendo's main franchises (Mario, Zelda, Metroid) I've never purchased a system for them. Godfather and Dewy's Adventure had as much influence on my buying Wii as Wii Sports and Brawl. Same with DS, I played more 3rd party than 1st on it.

Unlike Wii's motion controls which I loved and still do, WiiU's gamepad is not only not compelling, I find it annoying. The system is barely more powerful than current gen systems and I own a 360 which has all the same (and much more) 3rd party games (except Sonic, etc).

So far 3DS's Nintendo games are very similar to what WiiU has/will have - 2D mario, 3D mario, DKC, Fire Emblem, Mario Kart, even Smash Bros. It costs a lot less and has more 3rd party support. I'm more likely to buy that than WiiU.

I also share your concern with WiiU. I've been predicting it's early demise long before it launched. And once Nintendo starts to focus on a new system the old one is abandoned in it's last year which we've seen again and again. That'd mean 2012 and 2013 would likely be the only 'good' years for Nintendo games on WiiU and considering this years line-up, that's scary.

I'm sure I'll miss some good WiiU games, but I can always catch them later on Wii3 or just enjoy the 3DS versions. Or the Wii versions which I still have a huge backlog on and frankly Mario Kart, Smash Bros and NSMB just don't look much different than they did on Wii so I don't think I'm missing much with WiiU.
