no kidding. but i wish they would've gave the GC a regular disc drive that can play DVDs. with that and the fact that it was cheaper than the PS2, one could only imagine what could have been.

.........it was cheaper speciacally BECAUSE it didn't have a regular DVD player. The DVD part is what made PS2 more expensive, hands down.

That's good, right? I just want to see what new stuff is in the game. Don't keep me waiting Nintendo!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

How big is Donkey Kong Country Returns in terms of GBs?

Even LBP is difficult to compare though, I don't think it has as many levels, but it's got that create mode that's bound to take up quite a bit.

3.34 gigs.

I expected a direct comparison between NSMBU and LBP would be weird. Mario also has a couple of extra modes, but no level creator.

The best comparison there is Super Mario Galaxy versus Galaxy 2.

The first is 3.28GB, while the second is only 1.30GB! They made it so it would have fit on a GameCube disc. Obviously they did something awesome to their compression techniques. I know Galaxy 1 has the hub-world and Galaxy 2 doesn't (though it does have 'Spaceship Mario'), but I doubt the hub-world alone would take up 2GB.

Wow that is quite small.

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

It would be something to see how much Nintendo could cram in to a full 50GB dual layered Wii U disc and the system's full RAM capacity if they applied the same compression wizardry to their Wii U titles AND tried to make full use of the system's capacity.

Except it was basically a DVD drive, just modified slightly so Nintendo did not have to pay a $10/unit DVD licensing fee (which MS got around on the XBox by selling a remote control accessory).

I remember seeing pirated copies of GameCube games that were burned onto mini-DVD discs (the actual DVD format, just a smaller version of it), so it definitely could read DVDs.

hopefully the pro controller gets more support this time around, there weren't many games that used the CC on the Wii

From what I see most games support the Pro Controller.

Games on the top of my head that can't use it are:

NSMBU (this was patched in tho)

Nintendo Land

Lego City: Undercover

Batman Arkham City: AE

Scribblenaunts Unlimited

NSMBU can now use Pro Controller and I've played BatmanAC with Pro as I do all my big multiplats when I'm not playing off-tv.

So really your list is just lego city and scribblenauts.
