Unless Sony started production in April - I don't think it's een possible to reach that number plus I don't even know if there's enough demand for such a high number of console to be produced.

But I want bragging rights on the off chance that you're right so I agree with OP 100 percent. The Ps4 will sell 6-7 million THIS YEAR!!!

No way PS4 will sell more than 4 million by the end of 2013. Meanwhile, Wii U should be at probably 7-8 million.

The idea that Sony can not produce 4 - 6M consoles is hysterical. This is mid range, high yield AMD tech on a well refined, nearly 2 year old 28nm process. There is no crazy embedded memory to deal with, no wild cpu design like cell, and no emerging tech like blu-ray.

Sony is not going to be loosing $300 per unit sold, so they can over produce and have units on shelves and still be in a much better place than with PS3.

Sony executives have said they will have more consoles available this holiday than at the launch of any other PlayStation platform.

Everything so far points to Sony being more prepared for this launch than any game company has ever been. This is not a console launch of old. This is a well planned professional launch on in line with the biggest products on the market today. This is Kaz's example of one Sony, and the future of of what Sony is capable.

Theres nothing to get excited about yet Sonys track record says if Microsoft drops the ball (which means they cannot stop sony from capitalizing) this gen they'll reach close to 100 million this gen or above in 7 years time. Sony is the only company that has been able to do it consistently until Microsoft halved their marketshare. The only special thing about the Wii was that it was a gimmick that casuals will most likely never  do again until another hit gimmick comes out. If you care to wager this, I would be so willing. 

Nope.. by then PS3 and 360 will have price cuts.. possibly.. and even iif they don't they have established libraries.. that will get better by that time.. and through out all next year.. Wii U will finally be stepping up to the plate with some exclusives... I think they get 5 - 6 million.. but by the time they get to that.. Wii U will be slightly ahead.. 2014.. The PS4 will take it.. but not this year.. One will be ion third at about 3 million or so.. (And I am going to love seeing all the ONE sucks stuff popping up if/when the One does as poorly as Wii U in total sells.. (It won't happen of course.. but it would be awful interesting if it did)

Not everyone plays multiplayer. The bar for multiplayer is probably only going to be 20 million people at the most per console. The problem with Xbox Live is it forces everyone to pay the bill. Its optional with Sony.

Whats that supposed to mean? The majority of people who paying videogames don't play multiplayer judging from the sales of multiplayer games.

What does that have to do with the fact that multiplayer optional with PSN+ which people already pay for without multiplayer. The rest of the online experience is free. Can't tell the difference between that and Xbox Live Gold?

Yes, Sony ripped them off. People were already paying optional for PSN+...and they don't have to pay for multiplayer if they dont like multiplayer, which means multiplayer online with be accurate gauged now. They were bleeding from losing so much money they watched MS make more than their share from Xbox Live. People who like Action/Adventure and JRPG's and not FPS all the time don't have to pay for all the added extras and can enjoy it business as usual. If you like FPS you pay for multiplayer with PSN Plus. Everything else is free. Nintendo can enjoy free online.
