Wow.. discusted... Metro took the article waaay out of context

When asked if the harassment led to her depature, Hepler told Polygon "No, leaving Bioware was for family reasons. I am going to be working on a text book on narrative design among other game-related freelance projects."

Not only can the gaming community be full of jerks but our journalism is terrible as well.

So depressing.

And gamers wonder why nobody outside of gaming takes the industry serious.

It's super cool how people can just make idle threats and get exactly what they want without repercussions, right? I'm not saying I wouldn't have left as well, but seriously, what a shitter.

I feel bad for the kid in Texas who was thrown in jail under $500,000 bail for making a Facebook comment that was arguably far less threatening.  I don't mean the level of implied violence (which obviously was higher) but the fact that these threats are focused on a specific person and portray some degree of intent, while the Texas comments were aimed at no person or organization in particular.

True the "journalist" in the gamig industry are even worse than the community at large. They are supposed to know better and they commit the same "crimes."

Yeah, although that's not really surprising. Gaming "journalists" are just gamers with a platform from which to speak. So however reprehensible the gaming community can be at times, the gaming "journalist" is all of that with an insufferable superiority complex to boot. The person who breaks a story like this fancies himself morally superior gamer to the rest of us basement dwelling, Cheetos dust-encrusted fucktards. And who even cares if it's true? Even if it's not, it can always be said to "speak to a larger point".

A lot of journalism's problems (in general, but especially in gaming) is that journalists tend to be really avid fans of whatever it is they cover. Also, they're assholes.

Her statement was awful, and I can agree with the sentiment that she contributed in some way to how crap Dragon Age II ended up being.

I just genuinely cannot comprehend how people go from "you messed up a game that could have been better than it was" to "I hope you die along with the rest of your family". I'm just glad the users here are above that kind of thing.
