Forums - Gaming - Project Phoenix’s Director Explains Why it’ll be on PS4 and PS Vita and Not on Nintendo’s Consoles

In a way I'd have to agree with the fact that it would sell less on a Ninty console.

But that's partly because of the Virtual console. If you had a choice between $10 to go towards a no-name indie vs Super Metroid or Super Mario World then yeah.

This is why I also feel Japan's VC is so much better than ours, because they don't really care about indies and can release Chrono Trigger and FFVI without worrying about overshadowing them. It seems like Nintendo on the western side has to intentionally hold back because of the whole indie approach they're going.

Hell even the Wii had a better VC at launch.

Not a lot of people buy them...? If he was only talking about the Wii U, there'd be some sense in that. But the 3DS too? That thing's selling like crazy.

Wow that's a new one on me, an excuse for third party efforts selling poorly and for Nintendo's lacking VC selection all in one.

Indie sales on Steam must be in the dump because of all those cheap big name games that pop up in sales all the time. Hell I just bought Mirror's Edge, BF3, The Sims 3, Dead Space 1 and 3, Burnout Paradise and Medal of Honor all for $4.45. Indies on PC are screwed.

i'm not blaming the 3rd parties I'm blaming Nintendo. And it's true if you look at the actual charts on the e-shop. VC destroys.

EDIT:I just checked the 3DS charts and out of the all-time top 20, 10 are VC titles. 3rd party software downloadables that chart are Cut the Rope , Plants vs Zombies and some weird thing called Colors 3D.

The problem with Nintendo… You know, I like Nintendo and everything…but not a lot of people buy it.

So I guess many people do buy the Vita?

Just SAY it man: I hate Nintendo and their superior gameplay we can't keep up with so it's PS4 (and Vita for whatever reason we ever came up with)

It might help if you read the part where they said that their publisher chose to put it on PS consoles, not them. Although your statement that they think Nintendo is so great and talented that they hate them and want nothing to do with them is kind of interesting.

I'm not saying you're wrong about those titles dominating. You seemed to imply that indies can't compete when put alongside big name games, which is wrong. They (and third party in general) only have this issue alongside Nintendo games on Nintendo platforms, which is a demographics issue, and nothing inherently to do with indie games. Other than them inherently not having Nintendo characters in them, I guess.

SoulSaga obviously had no problem to secure things for WiiU-release, Playstation-support was announced later as they sorted out things with Sony. So I think this is not true, if it works out well with Nintendo for one game, why should it problematic with something similar. The solution more or less is, that they found a publisher for PS4 - and didn't care enough for something else.

Soul Saga is a Western-developed game; Project Phoenix is a Japanese-developed game.  Kind of highlights the point even further.

OK. Seems strange that NoJ has a different policy than NoA, but Pokokos post seem to support this.
