Alright then. Let me ask you this: Why exactly can't Nintendo make this into a major franchise? You've seen how Xenoblade did, no? And that was on an effectively dead system in the West, and the outcry from GameStop should make it obvious that people want the game.

Now imagine the game like X with better graphics, coming out at the peak of the system's life, with major advertising and that fan are from Xenoblade already on the system. With the demand Xenoblade has seen, X should have a plentiful supply. That's a game which should easily double Xenoblades sales, so we are looking at maybe 1.5mil. Is that a major franchise to you? Nintendo certainly has the money for it, and initial responses have been strong. Nintendo knows this is what people want, and the Directs should prove they have an interest in marketing the game. And it all seems perfectly possible. Saying a intends doesn't have the audience is foolish, because if the game looks good, people will buy the system. Looking on this forum alone should confirm this to you.

So now, it's your turn. Explain to me why YOU believe Nintendo could never possibly make this game into a franchise, because they don't have a market on a struggling system which has been out for less than a year. Or will you just laugh instead or proving me wrong, I wonder?

Finally, people won't respond to you properly unless you post your opinion in depth. Had you backed up your thoughts and NinPie had said that, I may have reported him, or pointed it out to him. Then, you would be in the right. But you can't expect deep responses ifnyounput in no effort in the first place.

The best post in this thread by far. I agree the game looks good and it will sell more then its predesassor, and it will also move units. But as i previously said nintendo doesn't havelarge amount of the rpg market, or people interest in jrpgs in order to make X a big franchise, potentially the new zelda as the op stated. Most rpg fans will be getting the ps4/x1 or will have a pc, and one rpg alone won't be enough for them to justify the purchase of a new system no matter how good it is. Making an amazing game and marketing it well isn't enough when the typical consumer buying your console isn't a fan of rpgs.

I definately think that X will do good and that it will be a great game, i myself am interested in it even though i have no intention of getting a wii u, but it will not have 3,4,5 million + of sales to make it a big franchise.

Actually, Nintendo does have a good amount of the RPG market.  In fact, I find it weird you think most RPG fans will want an Xbox One.  Since when was the XBox the go to place for RPGs?

Also, 3-5m+ sales isn't always necessary to make something a big franchise.  Final Fantasy is considered a big franchise (or was), and it definitely doesn't always go in that range.

Also, if you must know, Zelda doesn't always do 3-5m+ with every release, yet it's still considered a big franchise.

Nintendo also has other RPGs such as Fire Emblem, Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, and Golden Sun.  Those are just the first party titles.

Then we have the multiple 3rd party RPGs you can find on Nintendo systems.  Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts (some of them), Final Fantasy (some of them), Shin Megami Tensei, Etrian Odyssey, and much more.  If there wasn't the market for RPGs on Nintendo systems, why would there be so many of them?

Nintendo clearly has a market for RPGs, and even though I listed lots of handheld RPGs, this doesn't discount the fact that the Wii also has a healthy selection of RPGs.  I think X would be a big factor in bringing in some more RPG fans to Nintendo systems and potentially being a 2m+ seller at least.

Uhh... no.

Then why did skyward sword sell less then wind walker? And if yes why doesn't the wii u currently have jrpgs?

two irrelevant questions.

and about zelda, releasing late in wii's cycle and requiring motion plus nertainly didn't help.

and I'm still trying to understand the relation between a game of a certain franchise seling less than previous installemnts and nintendo not having the market for a certain other franchise. also, what does it have to do with a new system not having received a certain genre? ps4 too won't have any jrpg until late 2014, and that is if FF 15 is out by then.

Considering they made sure to show the game worldwide on the january and E3 directs, I'd say they're putting a good effort on it as a franchise. it's understandable after xenoblade's success.

Hey everyone, am I the only one that wants to talk about the 17-year old pachiderm currently residing in our vicinity?

Skyrim sold more then 6 million on 360, it has rpg fans just wrpg fans not jrpg, the same thing goes for pc.

For me a franchise that can get atleast 3 million sales on a game is a big franchise, and i think that x can't achieve such numbers because the crowd just isn't their. I wasn't referring to 3ds/ds i know that it has all of these games, but as we have seen with the sales of the last story and xenoblade (even though it was sold out) we're not looking at huge numbers here. Like i said in this thread i am just responding to the op who said it could be a big franchise, i do think X will move systems, but not too huge amounts to be considered big.

Hmm... if I understand correctly, you're rephrasing the elephant in the room idiom?  I'm not quite sure I understand.

I'm not comparing it to Zelda as an RPG. As you said, Zelda ain't much of an RPG any more. However, Zelda TP showed that a "mature" game can get quite a large audience on Nintendo systems. Of cource the game was backed up a lot by it's name, Zelda, but Zelda fans, and there are millions of them, show that there is a place for dedicated gamers that like more than Wii Play. And to me, it shows me that Nintendo still have the potential to start up big time franchises (sales wise).

let's end this silly discussion. Nintendo is the biggest gaming company in the world, with the largest audience that includes every kind of gamer.

choice of picking TP (over 8mil) or SS (3.5mil). Yeahhhhhh? SS was a good game, to many people b****ed about motion controls, thats it. Why do people always pick the lowest selling game to prove a point i wonder? Its like one guy claiming pokemon sales went wy down and they were comparing red/blue (33mil) vs bw2(6.5mil) and bw2 isn't even a new gen pair game O.o..... OT: X should be the FF for Nintendo!!!

it's called hater selective memory.

it has the potential to be a hit - don't expect it to do zelda or donkey kong numbers

Def not that high bit it could push about 1.5 million and be in the Fire Emblem or Metroid range

I honestly am clueless on this hint.
