The most likely reason why the shipment numbers are so low is that it sold less than expected last holiday and resulted in overshipping. In NA+EU, Paper Mario was the only big title last holiday and there were great DS deals on black friday, this caused 3DS sales to undeperform in the west in holiday 2012. There was no need to ship a ton of units to begin this year since they had so many still on shelves.


I have always used vgchartz when we have no official data.

your the one making a fool of yourself lol. There has been a number of times you been proved wrong, this is no different. Your mixing up shipped numbers vs sales, think about it 3ds was selling bad right in the beginning? your numbers put at that time high cuz it was SHIPPED! Thats all end of discussion. If you bring facts to the table, make sure you kno wat they are before making a statement. If you think VGCharts has 3DS overtracked by almost 3mil, then i cant help you.

ok so you honestly believe 3DS has only sold 2.6mil units right? The numbers you comparing is Shipped, unless you cant tell the difference with ship and sales then you have no hope. Also Zorg is right, you use VGChart numbers all the time then in one topic you dont? Real Smooth

No one knows how many 3DSs were sold.

And no, I will only use the vgchartz's estimates if I have no other data. I don't know any sane person that would use these numbers as more than a rough estimation.

15m is not my maximum. I'm just saying thats a decent ballpark to work from.

@MDMAlliance I aint done the calculations for my yearly total yet. I will post back later today after I have checked things out. Though your argument seems sound i would like to mold things over myself. Thats still an extra 9-10m sales on top of what it did in the same period last year.

Its not the next best thing because they arent the same. Vgchartz isnt always 100% accurate but for the most part they are close when it comes to hardware numbers so I will continue to use them since we are posting on this site afterall. There is no way they have it anywhere close to 2.6 million off.

example we have japans correct numbers! From media creates, 3ds sold a little over 2mil this year there which proves your 2.6mil is way off

we use media creates numbers and 3ds is over 2mil in japan this year. that proves him wrong unless he thinks NoA+Europe sold les than 500k in 7months with AC released+Luigi's Mansion lol
