It is because for some the 3DS is their main game console, it doesn't matter that it is portable. I can understand that. I'm somewhat the same, judging from the amount of times of play the 3DS most likely wins against my Wii/WiiU/PS3. Wii's been next to nothing for over a year anyway. However, all those playsessions on 3DS aren't very long each, so it takes a while before it racks up in total time. That's where the consoles win big time.

I don't get it how you can spend so much time in some of these games. I play video games most of mine time and still have a HUUUUGE backlog.

I have average 10-20h per game, fire emblem awaking 27h my highest.
my mario games have about 60h but 2/3 of this time are played by my nephew.

Some of them are played more than once. Some games actually take more than 10-20 hours to beat. SMTIV took around 40 hours. PxZ, not going to lie, I haven't beat yet and I have almost 40 hours into it. I'm almost done, though. Kid Icarus: Uprising has the whole fact that replaying a chapter can give you different results and has an online mode. MK7 has online. Animal Crossing can be a slowburn. There are many ways to put in 2-10x as much as you play. Also, some of us have had our 3DS' for over a year.
