Forums - Gaming - does the X1's 180 prove that Sony has the better vision for the gaming industry?

Yes, no doubt about it, Sony is just a brilliant company, non-innovation is the way to go. Thats why the ps3.5 or as many others like to call it the ps4 is such an amazing machine.

Making it as difficult as possible to share/play games is surely the future. Microsoft are true innovatos who put the consumers first.

No, but it proves that Microsoft just got lucky with the 360. If Sony didn't blow it with the Cell Processor and the $600 price tag, they probably would have got smoked this gen just like they did last. I personally will be buying a $700-$800 PC rather than buying into Xbox again.

500 bucks for the weaker system? Are they nuts?

first of all, welcome to the site

second, i get your point, a lot of their "exlusives" are actually on PC, i really dont see why somebody with a gaming PC would really want an xbox.

People don't react well to change.

I think it's more that people  don't react well to having draconian DRM foisted upon them with NO assurances there would be a concrete benefit. My view is that if MS wanted us to believe that the XB1 was the console version of a 'Steam' box then they needed to prove it. Which they sure as heck didn't. They announced that the standard pricing for games was going to remain $59.99.

If they had announced games will be under $40 then we might have had something to talk about on that front. This idea that, while getting pressure from the retailers (many attribute that as being the reason they can't lower prices of digital sales) AND pressure form the developers who are already trying to find ways to gouge us (charging used games fees etc.), we would be getting better prices with ALL digital is nonsense.

No, I think people just weren't willing to bite into the MS BS sandwich.

This especially. I think we never knew to a full degree what MS really wanted and how their vision was besides the trolls shouting "ANTI-CONSUMER!!!1!!!".

I was really surprised and confused that gamers can be so conservative to let a system not even try to change something the way it is.

Now even devs say that MS' change was perhaps not the best idea but they had to listen to the crowd on the net which is even now still moaning and complaining and MS changed almost everything they once intended.

My picture of a cool and open-minded gaming community is destroyed forever.

Traurig, traurig.

Thanks for the welcome. And I don't get it neither. A gaming PC with Steam beats a Xbox any day of the week. I'm sure most hardcore PC gamers will just use the 500 bucks it would cost to purchase an Xbox One to just upgrade their PCs. And who can blame them.

Sony is more in touch with the common gamer than Microsoft is. Microsoft has a solid FPS foundation though, i'll give them that. Microsoft knows how to lure them but when they show them who they truly are they have to revert. The Xbox One is the console Microsoft has always wanted to create, they just waited until gamers let their guard down.

That's exactly what it means.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

so we're close minded because we want to OWN what we buy and dont want to jump through hoops to do something that has been easy to do for years? Sounds legit.
