@Eisum+MDM

i think it'll easily hit 10mil before years end

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl First 10 Weeks (Euro= 9weeks)

2,410,377 ⇔ US
1,578,589 ⇔ Europe
3,430,890 ⇔ Japan

7,420,000=Total(estimate)

This X/Y not only has more hype, but its releasing WW in Oct which follow in holidays, Europe+US never had this kind of release near holiday (exception of BW2)

I say again 10mil is tooooooo easy

I do think it could easily be a close one, but if you look at MK7, it already has over 8m sales, spiking at every holiday season.  With the pokemon release, if lots of new 3DS systems get sold, you can count on MK7 sales to increase as well.  I simply think that MK7 will be able to inch to 10m before Pokemon X/Y bolts past it.

i totally agree, even with SM3DL i see all 3 of them with at least 10mil by years end, i was just stating Pokemon X/Y will have 10mil sales!

There's no doubt that Pokemon X/Y will have 10m sales.  I believe that it could push 20m as well.

Pokemon is 2 games so won't be that.

...and before people argue otherwise, how many series has many people buying the same game twice, on the same platform, not special editions or GOTY type stuff, then playing both copies.

its one game, just with exclusive stuff in each title. Not everybody gets both versions. Maybe about 10%-15% actually do, but that doesn't mean it should be split. Pokemon X/Y will get 10mil for sure, dont split the game up for your sake :P

1 Pokémon Red / Green / Blue Version GB 1996 Role-Playing Nintendo 11.27 8.89 10.22 1.00 31.37
2 Pokémon Gold / Silver Version GB 1999 Role-Playing Nintendo 9.00 6.18 7.20 0.71 23.10
3 Pokémon Diamond / Pearl Version DS 2006 Role-Playing Nintendo 6.33 4.32 6.04 1.38 18.08
4 Pokémon Ruby / Sapphire Version GBA 2002 Role-Playing Nintendo 6.06 3.90 5.38 0.50 15.85
5 Pokémon Black / White Version DS 2010 Role-Playing Nintendo 5.36 0.59 5.64 3.15 14.74
6 Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition GB 1998 Role-Playing Nintendo 5.89 5.04 3.12 0.59 14.64
7 Pokémon Heart Gold / Soul Silver Version DS 2009 Role-Playing Nintendo 4.22 2.38 3.96 1.02 11.58
8 Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen Version GBA 2004 Role-Playing Nintendo 4.34 2.65 3.15 0.35 10.49

Given that the difference between generation 5 and generation 6 is bigger than any generation before, I am pretty sure a lot of people who stopped playing are coming back.  Now if you mean Pokemon X or Pokemon Y by itself rather than the sales combined that's a different story and much harder to track (and not really fair considering they are almost the same game, very little difference between X and Y).

And to your bold comment, that doesn't really change the fact that most of the main Pokemon games sold 10m+.

Different content.
Different name on each box.

Two games.

Ok Watever floats your boat. Pokemon Pairs are the most similar with just exclusive content in each but if you want to seperate them into 2 games go right ahead, cuz no matter what the world will see it as 1 game, like for the past 15+years!

Those are lifetime sales, thread is for race to 10m.  Mario Kart is less than 2m away and many new 3DS owners buying for Pokemon likely pick up MK too.

That's why I said Mario Kart.  However, what you're saying looks like you barely even think that X/Y is going to make it to 10m.

I'm surprised people still go on about this. I mean they've been counted as one game since forever. There's no reason that's gonna change all of a sudden.

Not really correct.  Both have the capacity for the exact same content.  One just happens to start you off differently and wont allow you access to that content unless you have or know someone who has the other.

Different name?  They're barely different names.

Not two games, they're two parts of a single game.  It's like saying that a game and its DLC should be counted separately.

Not saying this cuz of Kyledog, but some people say this cuz they mad pokemon has high sales and want it to be split so it wont look as high. Heard it from people on Gaf

Could be worse. Just don't say that Mario Kart is a racing game.

even though i kno you wouldn't be surprised but some people will be willing to say that O.o Like how SSB isn't a fighting genre game
