I am not quite sure why people seem to think this console is going to set the world on fire. I just don't see it. What games are going to sell the PS4? Another Killzone? Sure, Nintendo and MS may be screwing up right now, but that doesn't mean Sony wins by default. It still has to prove it has some interesting titles, worthy of consumers shelling out at least $400. And in this economy, more people are going to be hesitant to invest that kind of money in yet another gaming console that will have few games at least for the first year or so.

Especially when you consider that many are just now jumping on board with the PS3, I think the PS4 is going to start pretty slow much like its predecessor, but it will also be a slow burner and last awhile.

I expect the PS4 to have a powerful preorder week, continue strong for a couple weeks therafter, and then abruptly taper off until it's selling less than the PS3. It will probably recover fall 2014. The PS4 will absolutely see a million units in it's first week. It just won't come close to keeping that pace for the whole holliday season.

In one article, they announced that they expected a minimum of 100.000 PS4 available in France for the launch, so from that number one million worldwide seems possible.

With early rumors of Sony ramping up production to a million consoles a month starting in September this should not be out of the realm of possibility. They should have ~5 million consoles ready to ship this year. Jack Trenton said at E3 PS4 will have more units available at launch than any previous PlayStation console.

As long as Gamescom and TGS go smooth, I think 1 million first week is in the bag. Sony still has a massive arsenal left to unload, UI, Games from Major internal studios, time exclusives, GaiKai.

If Sony has the supply I think it'll sell more. I know this was back in the day, but the PS2 sold 2 million units first day in Japan. I don't see why the PS4 can't hit that world wide within a week.

if you sum japan + europe + america FW sales then it's a BIG maybe.
