Forums - Nintendo - I'm Pleased With the Wii U's Sales

Tagged games:

Truth be told, I am actually happy with what the Wii U's sales have been. The 160'000 figure that was reported by Nintendo opened my eyes to just how bad the situation is, and I'm happy about.

Nintendo clearly messed up with their Wii U and they are deserving of having a horrible time with the console. Maybe not deserving of extremely bad luck, but bad sales are surely useful to teach them that maybe they should think before they go off and build another console. Because they obviously didn't think long and hard enough about this one. The Gamepad is too expensive, the name was awkward at first, the games haven't been available at all, the OS was extremely slow until they had you download and update (which didn't come until a few months after launch, to my knowledge.), etc.

Hopefully Nintendo doesn't drop the ball on their next console, because I do believe they'll have another. Just maybe not one as badly planned out as this one has so far.

Anyhow, what are your feelings on the Wii U's failure? Does Nintendo need to see how bad they are doing before they get better? I sure think so, but I want to hear your opinions as well. (Give an explanation for your post(s). It opens up discussion.)

I blame Wii Fit... for not being out there near launch.

I doubt you are being serious (since I think this was a joke of sorts) but do you actually think Wii Fit would've helped at all during launch? I seriously doubt it.

Wouldn't hurt to put more 1st party games that sold over 20 million last generation.

I also blame Wii Fit for being the main focus of the first Wii series for Wii U versus Wii Sports Ultra or HD

I doubt Nintendo is pleased.

Do you think that 20 Million figure would carry over? There would definitely be some who want to buy another Wii Fit, but I doubt more than 30% total would actually decide to do that.

I think Wii Sports Ultra would've actually been a good idea. (Not a bad name, either.)

They release no games, there is no advertising, and there's no much of a reason to buy a Wii U right now anyway, how in the world were people expecting better?

If it sold 10% of what it did on the Wii at this time, and 10% of sales were bought with Wii U, it would still be great for Wii U's current sale condition.

The thing is, that's still a large drop. Both of our numbers would be large drops.

In the long run, it wouldn't help the Wii U all that much. Especially if it was a launch title.

And I get banned for calling The Last of Us a film... but calling the Wii U low sales justice seems to be no problem at all, right mods?
