"Truth be told, I am actually happy with what the Wii U's sales have been. The 160'000 figure that was reported by Nintendo opened my eyes to just how bad the situation is, and I'm happy about.
Nintendo clearly messed up with their Wii U and they are deserving of having a horrible time with the console. Maybe not deserving of extremely bad luck, but bad sales are surely useful to teach them that maybe they should think before they go off and build another console. Because they obviously didn't think long and hard enough about this one. The Gamepad is too expensive, the name was awkward at first, the games haven't been available at all, the OS was extremely slow until they had you download and update (which didn't come until a few months after launch, to my knowledge.), etc.
Hopefully Nintendo doesn't drop the ball on their next console, because I do believe they'll have another. Just maybe not one as badly planed out as this one has so far.
Anyhow, what are your feelings on the Wii U's failure? Does Nintendo need to see how bad they are doing before they get better? I sure think so, but I want to hear your opinions as well. (Also, try to have an explanation for both sides. It opens up more discussion.)"

I agree w everything you said- but has Nintendo gotten the message enough to do things differently than they have? I don t see any evidence of it yet. Their stated strategy is to follow the same plan they executed for the 3ds - almost exactly - without the price cut- so far. Although the coming software is going to sell more Wii U s, they are going to be disappointed if they think the results will be the same as the 3ds- matter of fact the 3ds is going to be competing for sales w the Wii U (hardware and software) as the software is either the same/similar to what the 3ds has released or will release at aprox the same time. How many people who want 1st party Nintendo but are also gamers will just get their "Mario fix" on the 3ds then buy a PS4 or Xbox for their console?
I see no sense of urgency from Nintendo to date
