Too early to tell. From what I've seen it looks better then most recent Final Fantasy games. All the trailers leading up to XIII left me feeling meh (which is how the game & sequels turned out imo), I don't play subscription MMOs and FFXII looked good but suffered from unfulfilled potential.

This is the most excited I've been for Final Fantasy since the PS2 days, but considering their recent track record, I'm staying cautious.

1. Graphics - Polygon count has nothing to do with quality.
1. (a) Art Design - Already one of the most boring and uninspired looking Final Fantasy games.

2. Story - Wants to bring back Retro level of story quality? He will try to match old games, he can't surpass them. Kingdom Hearts and TWEWY are nothing compared to the deep and interesting plots in FF IV-IX, and he only helped make character models for those games.

3. Gameplay - Personally I think it looks stupid. FF never had ridiculous jumping, and matrix style moves. FFVII: Advent Children was bad enough, are you honestly praising a game for being over the top ridiculous? Retro FF, good FF, wasn't over the top ridiculous.

4. Music - Retro is better

5. Sequels - AWWW this just guarentees that it's going to be bad. So far X and XIII are the only Final Fantasy's with sequels and they are regarded as among the worst in the main series.

Seriously, FF will never be as good as it used to be. Ever since Hironobu Sakaguchi left the company, Final Fantasy has lost all hope. Heck Lost Odyssey was much better then any FF game released in the last 10 years.

Seriously? Ever since the PS1 days Final Fantasy battles have been over the top. The summons (KoTR, Eden, Ark, Anima etc.), the limit breaks (Omnislash, Lionheart etc.) and just the general battles. FFXIII had ridiculously over the top battles. The only difference is that you now have a real-time influence on how over-the-top you want to go.

Yea, but those are Summons, they aren't people, that's fine, that's 100% realistic. LOL

Limit Breaks were for the most part pretty tame. Most of the limit breaks in FFVII were normal, I mean most of Clouds were him just running up to a guy, and swinging a ridiculous sword. Had the sword been normal, this would be a lot different from people flying. I mean in FFVII Advent Children, Cloud literally gets tossed up 20 plus stories and does a double jump too.....

I mean some of the later limit breaks, like hurricanes and Cloud Traditional 7 Sword one are a bit over the top, but that can be easily explained by magic.

Magic doesn't make people fly.... I think I just think when people start to fly, and bullets can be stopped by thought, it's a bit ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure anything can be explained by magic. Whether we accept that explanation is another story

I mean, stopping bullets by thought? New form of Barrier/Protect or even Slow.

As for flying, I'm pretty sure the "Jump" command has been in Final Fantasy for a while now , although I'm pretty sure some of the more ridiculous limits had characters practically flying, especially on larger enemies like some of the latter bosses. And outside of JRPGs, Morrowind had levitate as a spell.

Yea, but it's getting too rodoculous now. FF I-VI had no form of flying, just a flying Airship, which was more of an artistic touch, and didn't look ridiculous in older games. I haven't beaten any of the PS1 FF's, but I don't remember anything ridiculous. I know FFX had Auron as a ghost...or well dead, but that was kinda cool, and kept secret for most of the game.

Also except for FFVIII, never has there been a method to dodge bullets in FF games. Older FF games either omitted guns, or limited them to weak damaging (I don't know why) guns or crossbows.

Anyway, it's just my opinion, FFXV is starting to look just plain wonky, FF is not what it used to be, and I don't think it ever will be. Heck Lost Odyssey played a lot more like a true 8/16 bit Final Fantasy then anything from Square Enix in recent years, and its reviews are mixed. People want mindless (Call of Duty), silly (Mario Kart/Wii Sports), and I wouldn't be surprised if Wonky becomes the new thing in RPG's.

If it's better than XIII.

When will the OPer answer my questions!? D:

I'm not sure SquEnix know what they are doing anymore. So my faith it will be good isn't exactly high. The key thing is the story, if it doesn't have a good story and good narrative it won't be good, regardless of gameplay, graphics and all that stuff.

Also, there shouldn't be sequals to any FF game ever. X-2 was a mistake regardless of good gameplay, and expanded universe of FF7 ruined the original story.

Hmm, pie.

1. Graphics - They don't matter. Great games aren't remember because of their graphics. That said, many great games do have great graphics, but on the other hand, not all do.

2. Story - I'm not convinced by this argument but I do have some faith in the story myself. It's just the reasoning of this argument I don't agree with.

3. Gameplay - This one looks like it's going to divide people a lot so don't expect universal acceptance.

4. Music - One name: Nobuo Uematsu. I don't think he's working on this, and he's exactly the reason why FF games until X had awesome music. After that, music hasn't been nearly as good, even though I did like the music in XII and XIII.

5. Sequels Already Planned - If anything, this means they're planning to milk the franchise and aren't interested in making a proper ending. A part of Final Fantasy's magic has always been the feeling of completeness, I think. There's no 'what happens next' after finishing the game.
