I'm pretty sure anything can be explained by magic. Whether we accept that explanation is another story I mean, stopping bullets by thought? New form of Barrier/Protect or even Slow. As for flying, I'm pretty sure the "Jump" command has been in Final Fantasy for a while now |
Yea, but it's getting too rodoculous now. FF I-VI had no form of flying, just a flying Airship, which was more of an artistic touch, and didn't look ridiculous in older games. I haven't beaten any of the PS1 FF's, but I don't remember anything ridiculous. I know FFX had Auron as a ghost...or well dead, but that was kinda cool, and kept secret for most of the game.
Also except for FFVIII, never has there been a method to dodge bullets in FF games. Older FF games either omitted guns, or limited them to weak damaging (I don't know why) guns or crossbows.

Anyway, it's just my opinion, FFXV is starting to look just plain wonky, FF is not what it used to be, and I don't think it ever will be. Heck Lost Odyssey played a lot more like a true 8/16 bit Final Fantasy then anything from Square Enix in recent years, and its reviews are mixed. People want mindless (Call of Duty), silly (Mario Kart/Wii Sports), and I wouldn't be surprised if Wonky becomes the new thing in RPG's.

, although I'm pretty sure some of the more ridiculous limits had characters practically flying, especially on larger enemies like some of the latter bosses. And outside of JRPGs, Morrowind had levitate as a spell.
