Times like this are what the magic 8 ball were made for. "Outlook not so good." Well. Looks like we got our answer.
Probably won't change much using your interpretation of first party. M$ looks at it like most large corporations, they try to outsource things whenever it is convenient(especially creative things). It's easier for them to just buy exclusivity of a title, as it probably has a large chunk of the concept development behind it and there is a very defined idea to "buy into". Because the PS brand has historically outsold the Xbox brand, it is easy for a lot of smaller developers to just develop for the PS's knowing there will be an install base eventually worldwide. We will see how the small(indie) developers treat this generation once there is an actual install base to work from.
I think Microsoft has been paying attention to the fans. That's why the Xbox 360 was such a huge improvement to the Xbox and why I think the Xbox One will improve on the mistakes of the Xbox 360. They've already corrected many of the problems of the 360 and corrected many of the potential issues of the Xbox One. More than anything else there are the criticisms of the Xbox 360 being the same as the PS3 and dispute about the lack of reasons that make the two unique. I think Microsoft will do everything they can to prevent that from being a problem again, during the 8th gen.
So, no. I think there will be more than five years worth of exclusives because now we know that generations aren't just five years anymore.

Below Sunset Overdrive Project Spark Lococycle Crimson Dragon D4 Fantasia As for the future, who knows. They are off to an amazing start in the exclusives department though. Unlike the 360, a lot of these games seem like actual MS published exclusives and not timed 1 year exclusives. Plus they have more to show. They said there will be a bigger emphasis on games and there has been thus far. |
MS actually owns a good amount of those games IPs so yeah they won't be coming out on PS4 or Wii U.
A core gamer saying they don't know anybody buying Kinect Sports........rly?
It isn't meant for people like us. The sales of them speak for themselves.
Funny since X1 has more announced games for its first year, some people are compensating by looking into the negative hypothetical future.
Also, 2010 was a huge year for 360 games.

Well, it came as a trilogy package....5 years later lol. It wouldn't come as a individual game.
Bioware was bought by EA. That is why the deal changed with Mass Effect. I am sure money changed hands to get Mass Effect out of Microsofts hands.

Funny how you twisted it to say announced games, Sony has said they have more games coming out in the first year than Microsoft...Also then tell me the kind of people that are buying a $500 to play Kinect Sports, I never said it wouldn't sell well, but its not a system seller.

Came out before that on the PSN shop as an individual game...
