Forums - Nintendo - This Is Why You Should Have A 3DS

For the most part looks good.. there is a few I would throw off this list.. but I guess that is a personal taste thing..

Nintendo Wii by generations...

1. Wii

2. Wii U

3. Wii O U

Predictions made by gamers concerning the current Nintendo line up of games.

Pikmen 3= Little Bump to nothing. (Got Little Bump)

Wind Waker HD= Won't sell anything (The explosion happened here and at one time 4 Wii U games was in the Amazon top 100)

Super Mario 3D World= Won't help at all looks cheap. (Currently the most sought after Wii U game and continuing the Wii U increase.)

My definition of port is if it's the same game. You can clean the graphics up all you want, but it's the same game I played when I was 17. I still OWN the game and an N64 and when I want to play it again, I play it that way.

Now, if a port contains new levels, changes the control scheme or alters the game in similar ways, then it's not really even the same game and thus, I have no interest. I believe these old games should be experienced the way that they were first intended to played. It's very similar to what went on with Star Wars imo. Lucas changed those films SO much, that they feel like different movies in some regards. If you want to play Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid or OOT, get the original hardware, plug it into an old CRT and play them like they were meant to be played.

This is all my personal opinion BTW. You may feel completely different, and that's ok.

I kind of agree.

Games should be played in the way they were meant to be played. That's why I barely have any Virtual Console games. Because I either already have the original game or because I perfectly able to get it in it's original form. I have all the consoles, so that's not the problem. However, some games are so great, that I don't mind playing them in a new way and they are deserving of putting in lists such as these.

Ocarina and StarFox 64 are some of those games. Mario 64 was another when the DS came out. I own Ocarina in multiple ways now, including of course a boxed original. If I want to play the game as it should be played, I can. Though with such a game I have no problem buying a new version of it if I can enjoy new features and in this case completely remade graphics! I'm interested in seeing exactly what they did.

I think for people like me who have been in gaming since, god, the pre NES days, a good deal of playing these old games is nostalgia and it's impossible, at least in my case, to get that while holding a different controller and playing it in HD. I've downloaded a few VC games, and it's always the same. It just doesn't feel right.

I'm sure for kids or younger adults who didn't play them in their original form, that isn't a factor. But for me it's a huge deal.
