NES = Great
SNES = Great
N64 = WTF
GCN = Perfect
Wii = No Comment

I disagree :D

NES = good but worse compared to Master System. I always liked the D-pad more and the best thing of it was it used a standard connection so it also could be used for Amiga, for example.

SNES = good but in my opinion lost to the 6-Button-Pad for Genesis. I hated the shoulder-buttons on SNES.

N64 = Awesome! I really liked while at first I thought it would be totally unusable but Nintendo proved me wrong. Also remember that we have to thank this controller for analog nowadays. And we have to hate BigN for it, too, because this made Sony feel to "upgrade" their controller to DS, the biggest ergonomic catastrophe in history of mankind :D no, jk...

GCN = Meh. Was ok but nothing that really stood out for me. But I have to admit I didn't play much on GC... Except the RE-reboots.

Wii = no idea, never played the classic controller. The vibrator-stuff was awesome, though :)

just remembered a valid point. Nintendo doesn't make the best controllers; they make the second best controllers. Every time they innovate, sony just steals the innovation and improves on it. So yeah, they don't make the best controllers.

That can go both ways, remind me again what was the first controller with dual analog sticks?

gamecube, is in my oppinion, the most comfortable controller ever made. Over 1000 hours of melee and still in reasonable condition

Always had problems with C stick on wired controllers.  C stick would mess up and lean to one direction (noticeable on Melee character select screen).  I switched to Wavebirds and never had a c stick or b button stick issue again.  I seriously had terrible problems with wired controllers on GC.  I shipped them back to Nintendo at least 2 or so times.  Not sure what the fuck was up with that but I was highly unlucky with their wired controllers.

True, but imo there is a huge difference between having one analog stick and having two.  For some reason Nintendo was dead set with having one analog stick for a while, if you look at the Wii and the 3DS, thankfully they decided to use two for the Wii U.  I mean imagine if they only put one on the Wii U, that would have been a disaster.  Having two analog sticks completely changes the gameplay options available on that console.

the N64 had something similar to a dual analog input, it had the analog stick and the C-buttons, Sony only replace the C-buttons with another analog stick.

Gamecube Controller had dual analog. Wii had a dual analog accessory (classic controller) and BC with gamecube controllers. 3DS has a Dual analog extension.

I think we can all realistically agree that Gamecube's controller sucked compared to Nintendo's other controllers due to the cheap springy shoulder buttons, unresponsive analog sticks, terrible d-pad, terrible face button configuration, worthless right analog stick, and its worthless z button. The N64, despite being innovative, was pretty bad as well due to durability of the controller, but at least in its brand-new state the analog stick was far more sensitive than a new gamecube analog stick.

Although, in their time, the NES controller, the SNES controller, and the Wii Remote were the most innovative and best controllers of their generation. The Gamepad is easily Nintendo's most advanced controller ever, and I do think in 10 years all game controllers will have some sort of built in tablet, although I can see them being smaller displays, similar to iPhone in size. The Wii U skipped the standard size and launched with the XL size, although, probably for the best since a stylus is unrequired.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Playstation. The N64 Stick was digital.

The N64 controller is hands down my favorit controller of all times. The analog got worn too fast, but while it was working optimal, the analog was second to none. The left hand setup just does it for me, still to this day.
