Good catch! I'll update the OP shortly.
I think 84-86 overall.

My word, things are moving fast! Another 10 reviews, the Metascore is now 87!
It seems my fears of lack of difficulty were unfounded. Good.
I'm slightly disappointed about the game's seemingly short lenght though.

10 hours to blitz through the story, ignoring the challenges or collecting everything? Sounds no different to the previous games.
Oh, the 10 hours are without collecting everything in the story mode? That's better I suppose.
Pikmin 2 definitely clocked a lot more at 100%. 20+ hours without the challenges.
Pikmin 1 could only last a little more than 7 hours, and could be easily finished in 4 hours.
Any info on how many challenges and how many maps for multiplayer there are?

No mention yet, but I'm sure we will know before the week is over. All the challenges can be multiplayer, though.
The game seems to be great, with it's only "big" letdown being that it is short. Not a big deal as Pikmin is a type of game that you replay often.
This game oozes enjoyability.
You know, I think the only thing holding the Pikmin franchise back (in terms of sales) is the lack of an identifiable "mascot" type character that people know by name. It's something people tend to associate with Nintendo games. They should name one of the Pikmin "Willard" or something and I bet sales would spike.

I never thought of that, Pikmin needs its Pikachu
