Forums - General - Breaking News: George Zimmerman Found Not Guilty!

1) The evidence was pretty clear in showing that it was self-defence.
2) This should never have been a big media story.
3) The President should not have got involved.
4) This has nothing to do with race.

If there were doubts, it was right to do a trial, then in the trial they established it was self defence and it was the right thing to absolve him. There isn't contradiction, the trial was necessary to solve doubts, once they were solved in favour of the accused, absoluton was the only right thing to do, but those doubts had to be solved first. Actually the wrong thing was to fill the case with racial implications, putting a pressure that could have unjustly damaged an innocent.

So many people out there on both sides believing they have a justified opinion on this, despite not knowing the full set of evidence. It's actually quite hilarious. By the way, courts do not "prove people innocent", they prove people not guilty based on the evidence presented by both sides, and by the sounds of things, both sides were pretty damn sketchy.

In Canada, Zimmerman as a civilian would be arrested and go to jail the moment he had a gun in his car while following Trevon...let alone shooting him, even if in self defense.

To an outsider in a neighbouring  country like myself, America and its laws and society can be really scary at times...but it is what it is.

This....honestly America is just disturbing

I have to agree, when it comes to these cases.

Both of them were at fault in the situation... but one is a free man with a gun and one is a dead kid.

Something really should be happening to this guy. I doubt he had lethal intent, but it's clear that he needs to learn that guns kill people, and that if it hadn't been a black teenager he killed, he would have gotten in a lot of trouble

I think he's pretty clear on the fact that guns kill people after he took a guy's life with one. Now that his life has been turned upside down for the past year and a half, hating Zimmerman has become a national pastime for about half of the population, and he and his family will have to look over their shoulders for the rest of their days, I'm not sure what else you think should happen to him at this point given the lack of evidence.

And the bolded is race-baiting that is beneath even you...

... is what I'd say, but I seem to remember you insinuating that something really should be happening to kowenicki for being a "class traitor", whatever the fuck that is, so I guess I'm not that surprised.

Quite the contrary, though. If Zimmerman were black rather than mestizo (with a "white" sounding name), this would never have been a national news story.

Expected.

First of all the case against him wasn't that strong without the media hype from MSNBC and the like, and it was evident it was going to boil down to self-defense, stand your ground laws (I haven't seen what the juror alleged, but yeah). Secondly the prosecution was absolutely shitty. It's almost like they grabbed people out from VGChartz to make it up.

yeah, the right to self defense... real scary.

but based off your post and the inacurracies in it, its clear your not interested in the facts of the case anyway

Youve replied with that reply to everyone that doesnt share your opinion in this thread which may be true or untrue... Fact of the matter is that both points I made about Canadian gun law and Zimmerman being a civilian are true. So only inacurracy you can be referring to in my post can be my fear of US laws and society.

i was talking aboutthe part of following him (which isnt a crime), the evidence points to zimmerman ceasing persueing martin, and then martin hiding and attacking zimmerman.

and ill admit a misread the last part, i thought you said he just shot him, i didnt notice the part about even in self defense. but that kinda makes it worse that you dont believe in selfdefense.

so i suppose you completely disregard the fact that zimmerman pursued the kid and initiated whatever conflict they had?

He followed someone he found to be suspicious in his neighborhood he was in his right to do so. In other words it's not illigal. The kid should have just kept on till his dads house, and not snuck up and attacked Zimmerman.

As a member of the neighborhood watch, he should have known not to follow him as he was instructed to do so by 911. If the situation was reversed and Martin shot Zimmerman because he felt threatened that some strange guy was following home. I doubt you'd feel the same way. As someone that's been followed before, I can't say what I would have done in the same situation. Although going straight home wouldn't have been my first thought, I don't want to lead a potential threat to my place of residence.

The sad thing about that statement is that if Trayvon had got the gun and shot Zimmerman, only the local media would have covered the story.  The nation would have NEVER heard about it.  And they certainly wouldn't have run pictures of Zimmerman as a 12/13 yr old Hispanic boy shot by the 6 ft "thug."

Is the self-hate that strong in USA too? Such traitors and masochists among us everywhere. It's a pity we're being humiliated and erased as a people and culture so fast, it has happened in just a couple of generations.

If his parents brought him up to be a decent person, this would have never happened. He would be here now but he was doing what his television and music( probable girls too) was telling him was cool.
To me this is just an example of someone getting screwed over because of peer pressure and hip hop culture.
If zimmerman is a decent person he will suffer the rest of his life because of what he did even if he had no choice.
Tbh i think a lot of the blame is hip hop culture. It glamorizes the drug dealer lifestyle for many young adults

I was not going to say anything from this sad little thread until I saw this mess.

OK, let's just say the kid was bad, fine. The kid was going somewhere, A man decided to follow him with a gun in his waist. That same man ended up killing him, but its the kids fault. The dead kid.

The 17 year kid is DEAD, the person who killed him is free yet most of you are celabrating, I don't get it.

And Zimmerman had to many choices.

1. Don't follow people

2. No Gun

3. Stay in the car

4. Don't go fight children

Zimmerman had plenty of choices, but he was so sure that this kid was up to no good he kept following him instead of waiting for the cops. His life was never in danger, he had a gun and knew it. He  wanted to be superman, but took someone kid away from them. And shame on anyone who dares talk bad about this dead child who did nothing wrong, he comminited no crime but being black and looking suspicious.

Dumb ass Treyvon tried to stand his ground without a gun and look what happened to him, this is why so many urban youths in the states need more access to guns, to prevent such tragedies
