There a lot of bullshit in his answers...

The biggest one... Kinect One SDK costs ~$400 and have 2 Kinect One included and the SDK tools... no way it costs more than $150 each.

2 Kinect One for SDK version?where can i pre-order it then, wanna buy one

Oh i find it

Yeah the $400 Kinect2 SDK actual give buyer 2 Kinect2s,so i agree can't see it cost more than $150 each

The one thing that gay people can use against straight people when arguing is doing just that i.e calling them dear, or sexy, or limp dick jackass or what have you. Lol

Why is everyone automatically assuming MS is taking a loss now?

Yeah, I agree with this.  It sounds more like MS is going for break even.  I can definitely see the Kinect 2.0 being expensive with the change to TOF for its debpth sensor.

Now? It was a no brainer with that tof-chip in Kinect2 that MS loses money for every XBox One, my guess is around $150 for the initial run.

Do you mean Kinect 2 costs $150 or that each Xbone is initially sold at a $150 loss?

If it's the latter I am shocked to learn of this.

My initial guess (weeks ago) was that the tof chip in the Kinect2 costs around $250-$350. I have not been able to find out the exact technology they are using to manufacture the chips (which is not commercially available, it must be an in-house MS product). A tof size 500*400 was completely out of possibilities to manufacture even 2-3 years ago for the "usual suspects" (chip way, way, way too big). However, I assume that as more and more older lines have become obsolete and manufacturing migrated to 28/32/40/45/55nm even for "common" stuff, MS was able to buy an old line in the 65-130nm range to manufacture the 500*400 tof chip. Still tof chips are extremely complex dies and we don't know the pixel fault threshold MS allows for the chips (usually when you bought a tof chip in the past, you had to accept a certain (low) number of pixel defects, just as in the heydays of the first lcd-monitors).

If we apply worst case scenario, then it is $300 (XBox) + >=$300 Kinecct2 =  >=$600 XBox One manufacturing costs for the initial runs.

Thats only if you preorder, you get a dev unit to play with.  This does not mean that you keep the dev unit.  The cost of the Kinect 2 for windows when it release will be 400 without a dev unit.  By giving developers dev units now before they get the release unit, those devs can give MS input on the device, functions and APIs to better refine the retail unit.  This is a win win for both develpers and MS.

hmm yeah well when I said essential for Kinect 2 with XB1, it was more for menu navigation.... from what I have seen joypad navigation will be vastly less practical than using Kinect.... just the switch between apps or the snapping look like it will be completely impractical with the pad....

but yeah apparently more and more 3rd party dev seem to be interested in Kinect possibilities and look like they are willing to integrate some Kinect features in their game....

but beside games I think a kinectless SKU will not happen this gen.... dashboard navigation looks clearly Kinect oriented and if it's like the current Kinect in better... it will be definitely faster and more practical for that than the pad.... that's already what I use Kinect for today, because it is more convenient and usually faster to navigate the dashboard with it than the pad....

From my perpective, I believe voice nav will be way more important for navigation with the X1 then hands free.  I can easily see people walk into their living room and say Xbox Play "******".  From games you have download, to apps you have on the console to movies where it just finds it within a app without you hunting for it, to music you have either downloaded on your X1 or using xbox music, to search internet links and bringing up that page or your Facebook or social media link ext.

I believe Voice nav is what MS is really putting a lot of juice into and this could very well be a difference maker as the X1 matures.  Its definitely a reason I see MS building the archtexture for the X1 they way that they did.

yeap me too voice command FTW...

but I'll still be interested by what they can do on the motion tracking side with a better hardware... I mean some games with the first one where not that terrible to play and some even fun.... now with better accuracy less lag it could give devs some nice ideas we haven't thought of....

but yeah voice command most def.... even in games... I could use weapon switch by voice instead of mapping a button the pad and mapping something else there....

Yeah, well, I do not want kinect shoved down my throat as a huge priority. Therefore the system becomes a many years down the line console. This is it's main draw back for me, but to them it is 50% of their prioritiy with the console. No thanks.

All seems reasonable.

So the ONE package is a bargain, it's quiet as can be and Sony reps admit the ONE has the best games.

Excellent.

someone arguing the same way pro sony would be attacked by you.

"it is not reasonable to produce a cam that's as/more exoensive than a console.I'd never trust a sony employee saying something"

btw-where is the prove for "sony reps admit the one has the best games"?but in this case this sounds reasonable for you.?
