They really need to make the Blue Dragon a proper MS franchise there and.. bring back the games that made their first japanese computer a success.. the MSX ! Maybe for japan they should rebrand the xbox one there as the xbox MSX console..

Sure, now Japan in a whole hates them even more (this feeling being communicated to japanese fans overseas) given that the exclusivity was a gigantic lie and that people had to shed thousands of yens in a console that grew useless to them with time. Such benefit...

The problem is only in their perception. A 360 is pretty much still a must-have if you enjoy Japanese gaming. As soon as it finally drops to 99 USD/Euros, I'm getting one for its Japanese support, don't care for anything else.

Success in Japan as a region is overrated. I don't expect an effort like last Gen ay all.

And ... xenophobia in the console gaming space DOES exist there. Unless the younger generation is more liberal than what we've seen in the past, I expect like results.

Yeah, because it really helped them before.

The X360, for the first 3-4 years, had much more Japanese and niche games than the PS3 and Wii combined. It didn't help it one bit. It won't change now.

He has his job cut out for him, to say the least.

It did. Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, and Star Ocean 4 all pushed a lot of HW for the 360 (especially considering how unfeasible it was to imagine the 360 selling 20k+!).

Once MS stopped paying for those timed exclusives, the 360 stopped have any meaningful boosts.

Yeah, the response they got was beyond disappointing. Sad, because they were on fire at the time.

So I doubt we'll see them go all out like that ever again. But who knows? Microsoft Games Studio Osaka is supposed to be working on a big JRPG, so maybe we'll get a first look at it at TGS. And maybe that means they haven't given up on Japan altogether.

Wonder is CAVE's Asada also joined MS,there are rumors about this
