Forums - Microsoft - Ryse looking gorgeously crappy

And this is why I don't understand how people can have faith in Kinect bringing good gameplay experiences, let alone great gameplay experiences, to the table.

This is a seasoned developer that had ample time before now and until close to the Xbone's release to create a kinect game. They made that their goal and even boasted about it, but failed at the end. This is also why I've never bought a kinect, eye, and even a whole Wii console. Motion controls aren't advanced enough for videogames.

motion controls are great for videogames. it's only MS fault for not using kinect decently. first of all it should allow the use of xbox controller instead of no controleler wich limits a lot that can be done. the rest is simple game design that haven't been done properly.

Screw the concern about QTE's and button mashing. When are we going to see a legitimate reason to have Kinect shoved down our throats?

Why can't I just buy an XBox One without being forced to buy that... well, I won't say it because the word might actually somehow offend people.

Please don't go so far off topic. Xbone and Kinect have nothing to do with this. This thread is about this game being crappier than it's touted as.

Considering the game was initially a Kinect only title and was supposed to show how well Kinect can work and how along with this title they haven't shown us anything substantial I would say it is on topic. They still talk about how it has Kinect features.

The game scrapped the controls and went for something that could be accomplished with a headset.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Really, this is the Xbone's Lair. Lots of promise, but lots of negatives to go along with it.

More like Red Steel. Both launch games with a ton of wasted potential.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

This isn't the 90's. Wireless is the new trend

I'm trying to be less "anti-Xbone" so that's why I said that.

Cloud is the new trend

Have you played it?
Have you tried Kinect 2.0,? I still play Kinect 1.0. Mainly for the activity and I like table tennis.

Are you even planning to buy a XBone?
If Not, are you just trashing a game you where never going to buy in the first place?

Just questions.......

Personally Quantum Break and Titanfall look great.
I also will buy Ryse. Looks dope and I think it is way to early for judgment.

I havent read a positive preview of the game, if someone could link me to one Id appreciate it.

I dont think it looks fun at all.

yeah I think Ryse and Knack are the launch games sent out to die this gen. Both look unworthy of our cash.

It's funny how you can't seem to post something negative about anything to do with Xbox without including a shot at the competition as well. While this thread isn't about Knack, I do like it so far.

But isn't it also funny how important it seems to Sony fans to come in here and tell their opinion about this game?

If Ryse was on the PS4 they would passionately be explaining how the combat is much deeper than it seemed in the demo.

I wonder why XBone fans aren't doing more defending for a game. The general mood I'm getting from MS fans these days is rampant apathy, as opposed to the general excitement and optimism from the days when the PS3 really had few games and most of them were freaking brown. It saddens me to see that people just can't get excited enough to set fire to a flag depicting the SONY logo and just keep on the offensive.

What really got me back into gaming back in 2007 was this excitement for the generation, this war of consoles, of exclusives, the energy.

The energy is still there...but people have gotten spoiled over time and the reaction is pretty lame these days.

It's a Crytek game. Always gorgeous, generally souless, sometimes fun.

I have quite a unique viewpoint apparently. I thought Ryse looked incredible (total war from the soldier's POV? that's awesome) and knack looked like PS4's fun but soulless answer to Jak, Sly and Ratchet.

We haven't seen much from Knack, so I'm not sure I'd call it soulless just yet.

And we have only seen 5 minutes of Ryse.
