That fits I suppose. Never really played Red Steel, but I do play Lair.

just when i thought it couldn't be done. you have surely outdid yourself
Lol. So many forum Sony owners are trying so hard to downplay this game.
i find it hilarious considering the games Sony fans tout as uber duper awesome are nothing but qte fests or have no gameplY except cutscenes and walking around.
we know confirmed qtes are the players choice. Fact. Unlike many games this gen that are rated highly which give no choice.
interent is full of irony
Not trying to troll this game or upset anyone who's truly excited for it, but I really think its gonna be crap. Its got this hype from many ppl, yet it just looks so incredibly underwhelming and unimpressive (other than visually).
There will be some ppl that like it, which is fine - to each their own - but, overall, i am quite confident that, unless new footage shows a completely different type of game than we've seen thus far, Ryse will end up an average game AT BEST, but more likely a sub-par game.

it's so sad how true this is

I'm not out to change your mind, but historically, Ryse makes absolutely no sense.
Barbarians of whatever tribe ('Barbarian' isn't a people in itself, it was the name for anyone who wasn't a Roman citizen) didn't have such huge fortresses, Romans themselves didn't had such huge fortresses. It seems too medieval instead of classical and I also have my doubts about the siege weapons. Barbarians in the game are bald for some reason and shaved their beards, while such display of personal hygiene was in fact exclusively Roman as they saw it as 'civilized' while it also had advantages during combat. The Romans in reality certainly did not attack in such a chaotic manner as it would result in defeat. Instead they were so successful because of their organisation and professionalism, rather than relying on an individual soldier's strength. This was just in the 5 minutes of footage we saw, I'm positive the rest of the game wouldn't make much sense either.
I like the era too, but I wouldn't look at the game as some historical retelling. If that's what you were doing anyway. Personally, I'm able to ignore these things though. I actually thought the game was the most interesting thing Microsoft had to show at E3 and I would get it if I got an XOne
.
I'll be honest, while I think that Ryse looked impressive from a visual perspective, I did not like what I saw of the gameplay. From the limited gameplay demo, the combat looked very simplistic, basically attacking until you get a "finisher" button prompt, which then activates a cinematic action sequence with another button prompt that you have to time (I'm guessing to receive a higher score or something to that effect).
Perhaps these button-activated, cinematic action sequences are only heavy during this "Saving Auxiliary Regulus" scene of the game, because if the gameplay is like this throughout the entire game, I'm afraid that Ryse won't be fun to play, at least for me.
I know this post may get swallowed up in the flood...
BUT, how about we dial back the negativity a bit and have an adult discussion about this game?
What's are people excited to see out of it? How will you consider it able to compete with other giants of the genre? What does Crytek need to do to earn your trust and your money? What does Ryse need to do to move units?
Come on, let's all be adult a bit and try and see the positives for a change.

Game looks like shit. The end.
