Forums - Microsoft - Ryse looking gorgeously crappy

I'm a sucker for graphics, so I always follow Crytek's output with keen interest. This one is looking beautiful indeed, but the good news seems to end there.

I'm also a raising my eybrows a little at the kinect integration. ONCE AGAIN there was this promise of "stellar kinect integrated gameplay", and once again it seems like it was just a pipe dream (or a hollow promise if you will).

Remember that? I sure do.

~Mod edit~

Title edit from "shitty" to "crappy". Rule 3 in effect. ^_~

It seems like Ryse will create a new video game genre from what I saw. The QTE fest action video game genre. It doesn't look good

"When it comes to combat and gameplay aesthetics, one of the early misconceptions has been that Ryse is nothing more than a QuickTime events free-for-all. The developers on hand assured us that the game was built on an intuitive system where players have the option to either button mash simultaneously or use the QuickTime prompts as directed. Both actions lead to different attack variations and precise timing can lead to bonus XP (experience points) and health boosts."

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

And this is why I don't understand how people can have faith in Kinect bringing good gameplay experiences, let alone great gameplay experiences, to the table.

This is a seasoned developer that had ample time before now and until close to the Xbone's release to create a kinect game. They made that their goal and even boasted about it, but failed at the end. This is also why I've never bought a kinect, eye, and even a whole Wii console. Motion controls aren't advanced enough for videogames.

How on earth does that sound brutally satisfying!?

EDIT: And that sounds EXACTLY like a QTE.

Asura's Wrath, yo.

I remember when Steel Battalion was the "Kinect game for the hardcore".

Yeah the fact that the QTE's will happen regardless if the player presses them or not is embarissing.

Didn't that game also had the ending in DLC? xDD Never played it tough, and doesn't sound like a nice game

yes i remember that when it was planned as 360 release but it's already long known now that it will be more a controller game. why the gaming site didn't know that until e3 is the real question. they seem to know not so much about the industry.

you surely don't like much of the xbox one after reading your posts of the last few weeks. at least you like every single aspect of the competitors console. good for your next gen experience

and yeah, right now i have no intetest in ryse as long as the story won't be any good.
