Duke Nukem 3D Path Tracing Mod Gets Full Voxel Support
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/duke-nukem-3d-path-tracing-mod-gets-full-voxel-support/
And the time has finally come. Modder ‘postmemetic’ has released a new update for his incredible Path Tracing Mod for Duke Nukem 3D that adds support for voxels. This is what I’ve been waiting for to dive in, and I’m glad the modder has added it.
Going into more details, Version 0.2.4 also remasters Episode 2. Not only that, but it brings a big performance overhaul pass to reduce CPU times on large levels with lots of geometry churn (E1L4, E2L8). According to the modder, frametimes have been reduced by up to 80% in some cases.
Version 0.2.4 also comes with a better install and launch experience. It has better Duke3d.grp discovery and a voxel download helper. Plus, it fixes a couple of bugs that were present in the previous version. For instance, it fixes a renderer bug that could cause visual jitter and egregious RELAX denoiser blurring. It also comes with a fix for rockets and enemies disappearing during flight, like in the big arena of map E2L8.
As I said, the main feature of this version, at least in my opinion, is the voxel support. This will give the game a more 3D-ish look. Furthermore, the voxels retain the art style of the original 2D sprites. These voxels are ideal for those who want to re-experience DN3D with Path Tracing. So, don’t sleep on them.
You can go ahead and download the mod from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a trailer for it. This trailer has the new voxels that replace all of the game’s 2D sprites. So, make sure to watch it as it can give you an idea of what you can expect from it.

Yet another rad gaming tool parts ways with Microsoft
https://www.pcgamer.com/software/yet-another-rad-gaming-tool-parts-ways-with-microsoft/
As anyone who's endured hearing me talk about Linux (which is cool) will know, one of my favourite things about the sunlit uplands of free and open-source (FOSS) software is Luxtorpeda, a compatibility tool that will automatically download and install open-source engine reimplementations—and other mods—for supported games you run with it. For instance, fire up a copy of Morrowind on Linux using Luxtorpeda, and it'll have OpenMW up and running for you in a jiffy.
Well, Luxtorpeda is moving home. It's become the latest in a line of projects to grow so weary of Microsoft's antics over at GitHub that it's picking up sticks. In a post on the Luxtorpeda website, dev d10sfan wrote, "The luxtorpeda project has completed a migration to codeberg! This is mainly from the latest issues with github, from stability, AI, and where they are putting their focus".
GitHub has been a mecca of open-source development for a very long time, and even Microsoft acquiring it in 2018 didn't shake loose most of its devs despite some controversy. But the site has recently come under fire, on the one hand because Microsoft simply cannot keep its AI tendrils to itself—training its LLMs on data hosted on the site and constantly badgering devs to use Copilot—and because it also can't seem to keep GitHub running consistently of late.

Congratulations to the Paralives community for immediately making its most popular mod something called 'Parapenis'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/life-sim/congratulations-to-the-paralives-community-for-immediately-making-its-most-popular-mod-something-called-parapenis/
The last time I was a regular Sims player was, well, in the era of The Sims. The first one. Since those ancient days, it's my understanding that the series—or at least The Sims 4—has turned into a platform for some of the most exotic and enthusiastic sexual experimentation mankind has yet produced, largely thanks to its mega-popular Wicked Whims mod.
So I should not be surprised, but maybe lightly scandalised, that the Paralives community has quickly made a whole medley of NSFW mods for the game, then promptly made those mods the most popular among players (spotted by TheGamer).
After releasing in early access just a week ago, Paralives' most-popular mods over on Nexus are already, well, just what you expect. The big swinging champ at the moment—the most popular mod of all—is called (I cannot advise strongly enough against clicking this in public or at work) "Parapenis", if you require some sign of where things are at.
Parapenis, which I have now viewed in my work browser, boldly declares that "Freeballing is for everyone" and gives your masculine Parapeople… exactly what you'd expect. Exactly what you'd expect comes in three sizes, ranging from large to small. For a wishful definition of small. Doesn't seem that small to… a friend of mine. Who I asked about it. Ahem.
That is only one of a suite of freethinking modifications. There's also multiple de-censor mods, genital and buttock sliders (that was the name of my band in university), adult toys, more pubic hair mods than you'd anticipate, and, of course, the Parapenis companion mod: Parapussy.
Some days I write about multi-billion dollar corporate acquisitions. Other days it's Parapussy.

Marathon's first 'PvP-lite' experimental mode sounds like a delightfully terrifying alternative
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/marathons-first-pvp-lite-experimental-mode-sounds-like-a-delightfully-terrifying-alternative/
In an effort to provide Marathon with some additional staying power, Bungie said in May that it would be experimenting with PvE and PvE-adjacent offerings as Marathon seasons continue, giving players a chance to see what playing the game is like when they aren't drenched in sweat.
Today, the studio offered some preliminary details about Sponsored Survival, Marathon's first "PvP-lite" experimental mode that will be available during the inaugural week of its second season. Unlike Marathon's other playlists, the mode will allow a single squad to scavenge a map without the looming threat of PvP—to begin with, at least.

Guild Wars teaser has fans hyped up about a potential Guild Wars 3 announcement, and ArenaNet isn't outright denying it
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/mmo/guild-wars-teaser-has-fans-hyped-up-about-a-potential-guild-wars-3-announcement-and-arenanet-isnt-outright-denying-it/
"The wind stirs. The world shifts. Stand ready," the official Guild Wars account posted on its social media channels on Monday. Accompanying the message was a cryptic video, showcasing lightly animated concept art with a clear fantasy theme, and a date: June 5th, 2026, when we'll all be watching the Summer Game Fest 2026 broadcast.
Some fans are immediately jumping to the most optimistic conclusion: Guild Wars 3?

Subnautica 2's no-killing policy isn't because it's 'a game about pacifism', says design lead, but because players would 'master the crappy combat' over anything else
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/subnautica-2s-no-killing-policy-isnt-because-its-a-game-about-pacifism-says-design-lead-but-because-players-would-master-the-crappy-combat-over-anything-else/
Subnautica 2 got into a bit of hot water (get it?) recently over some Discord comments that bluntly stated it wasn't a "killing game". Now, I didn't exactly buy into the critique of the game centered around that—I think it's perfectly fine for videogames to be about different things—but I do appreciate that being hounded by a scary ocean creature with no means of defense probably doesn't feel great.
In a recent interview with MinnMax, design lead Anthony Gallegos explains that the choice wasn't made because "we're like 'we're a game about pacifism' or 'we're a non-violent studio'—the studio's founded by modders who made Half-Life mods and their first mods were all about shooting aliens."

It's wild that Destiny 2's biggest ever quality-of-life update is the one that ends the game
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/its-wild-that-destiny-2s-biggest-ever-quality-of-life-update-is-the-one-that-ends-the-game/
Next week, Destiny 2 comes to an end. The Monument of Triumph update, releasing on June 9, marks the final release for Bungie's nine-year-old live-service behemoth. (...) It is genuinely absurd the number of quality-of-life updates being stuffed into this final patch. While I'd expected an effort to leave the game in a better place for its final, forever state, I'm finding that with every new preview, I'm awaiting next week's release with more and more excitement. Here's just some of the major changes dropping:

Overwatch is changing the requirements for its rarest anniversary event reward after realising playing 240 games over 3 weeks may be too much of a grind

Overwatch's anniversary event has come under quite a bit of fire over the last few weeks. While the nostalgic modes were a hit, fans have complained that the rewards are simultaneously not good enough and too much of a grind, and they're not wrong.
(...)
Yesterday Overwatch's game director, Aaron Keller, announced that Team 4 would be "making changes to the anniversary event because the requirements to earn the Table Flip (legendary title) weren't entirely clear."

And there's one short article more:

I bought it right away on launch, since I was looking forward to it for very long time, so it was "support the developer" kind of thing, though I knew I won't be playing it for at least 6 months to a year. I've pretty much only tested it for couple hours, liked what I've seen (for the most part), but not only I don't have time for it for foreseeable future (the way I play open world games, doing lot of sightseeing, it takes forever), but this type of games are always better as GOTY editions after waiting for a year or so.

Why oh why only Baldur's Gate 2?

If they do a remake, then they should a Baldur's Gate quadrilogy. As in Baldur's Gate, Siege of Dragonspar, Baldur's Gate 2 and The Black Pits/Gladiators of Thay all rolled into one giant campaign. Because right now, we have to rely on a mod to do so.

The article already speculates that there must be a remake of the first game as well since BG2 is a direct continuation of the first one.

But given that we're still on rumor terrotory, I would keep expectations low.

I know what you mean. Losing yourself in side quests if half the fun in most, if not all, open world games, no matter the genre.

And yes, fully complete games are always better, as the experience you get is more complete and rounded.

Mina the Hollower sells 300,000 in 3 days, Yacht Club Games is saved
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/mina-the-hollower-sells-300-000-in-3-days-yacht-club-games-is-saved/
In December 2025, Yacht Club Games founder Cris Velasco said that despite the studio's success with the 2014 hit Shovel Knight, it would be in serious trouble if its then-upcoming game Mina the Hollower wasn't a hit: "It's make-or-break for sure," Velasco said at the time. Six months later, Mina has arrived, and it looks like the studio has made it—for now, at least.
Velasco told Bloomberg that Mina the Hollower sold 300,000 copies in its first three days of release, putting it well above the 200,000 figure he said last year "would be really, really great." It's still off the "golden" mark of 500,000 units sold, but the very strong critical response—Mina is currently tied with Forza Horizon 6 as the top-rated game of 2026 on Metacritic—means that sales number will likely continue to climb.

Bloodborne Just Got Another Remaster Mod on PC
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/bloodborne-just-got-another-remaster-mod-on-pc/
Fromsoftserve’s PC Remaster project for Bloodborne is one of the best mods you can get for this PS4-only game. However, it appears that another one has just appeared online. So, let’s take a look at it.
BB Reborne is a complete visual overhaul that changes textures, lighting, and material properties across the entire game, including the DLC and Chalice Dungeons. The goal was to make each area/time feel distinct, memorable, and worth rediscovering.
Going into more details, the mod upscales all map textures to 2X and optimizes texture mipmaps and LODs. It also adds high/normal-map improvements and parallax occlusion mapping to all possible surfaces.
Moreover, BB Reborne reworks global illumination, player lighting, point lights, and emissive sprites. It replaces low-detail assets with higher-detail versions, and it fixes some mesh holes, as well as some floating/clipping objects.
And that’s not all. The mod increases some foliage density. It also includes a custom ReShade preset with RTX ambient occlusion, extra anti-aliasing, and film grain. Plus, it reworks HUD element positions.
Personally, I’m a big fan of fromsoftserve’s PC remaster mod. However, that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be alternatives. So, if you were not satisfied with fromsoftserve’s approach, you can give this other remaster mod a try.
You can go ahead and download BB Reborne from this link. Do note that you will need 23GB of free disk space to install it. The modder also recommends having 32GB of RAM and a GPU with 16 GB of VRAM.

Morrowind modder returns to remake a 20-year-old epic—a beloved 'Discworld, not Monty Python' project that's 'unexpectedly lore-friendly'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/the-elder-scrolls/morrowind-modder-returns-to-remake-a-20-year-old-epic-a-beloved-discworld-not-monty-python-project-thats-unexpectedly-lore-friendly/
It is one of life's greatest privileges to witness the completion of a masterpiece. Imagine Michelangelo putting the final taut lines on David. Imagine shooting the final scene for Mulholland Drive. Now stop imagining. You're here. You're seeing it. Muffinwind Rebaked is done.
Muffinwind Rebaked is a remake of Muffinwind, a classic 2006 mod for Morrowind that integrates a new 20ish-hour narrative with a bunch of new quests. It is, you can probably tell from the name, a comedic work, but that doesn't mean it's not serious. "This is (I hope) a funny mod, but that does not mean it is a joke mod," writes CowGuru, "it's a mod with jokes in it. The tone I hope I've achieved is Discworld, not Monty Python."
The original Muffinwind is a well-loved and classic mod, and has a lot more care and love poured into it than you might immediately assume on hearing the name "Muffinwind." It's got branching quests, entirely new characters, and oodles of actual Elder Scrolls lore.
The cool lore, too: the Kirkbride stuff—all the ayahuasca comparative theology they hid round back of post-Morrowind games. "I want it to be a memorable adventure that you can take seriously," says CowGuru, "with nuanced characters who have understandable, human desires and motivations."
The Muffinwind-i-verse has not just lain dormant since the original hit in 2006. It was expanded last year with The Soggy Muffin, a "coffee shop [alternate universe]" take on Muffinwind that takes some of the characters and locations from Muffinwind and gives them a new spin. Before that, there was Muffinwind Enhanced, a kind of remaster of the original mod that is now pretty much superseded by Rebaked.
To make room for that long legacy, Muffinwind Rebaked comes in two versions. There's, well, Muffinwind Rebaked, which is a direct sequel to The Soggy Muffin and which is the definitive "final instalment in this long and winding series."
But there's also Muffinwind Vanilla, which is a more direct remake of the original Muffinwind—for the nostalgics out there—and therefore does not take place in the Soggy Muffin timeline. Got that? No? Long story short: if you're a Muffinwind old-head wanting to relive the mod you played in 2006, you might want to try Muffinwind Vanilla. Everyone else? You're probably best off going for The Soggy Muffin and Muffinwind Rebaked.
