A Baldur's Gate 2 remake is apparently in development, with the original co-lead designer returning

Why oh why only Baldur's Gate 2?

If they do a remake, then they should a Baldur's Gate quadrilogy. As in Baldur's Gate, Siege of Dragonspar, Baldur's Gate 2 and The Black Pits/Gladiators of Thay all rolled into one giant campaign. Because right now, we have to rely on a mod to do so.

AMD extends AM5 socket support through 2029 with future Ryzen CPUs

Nice. Perhaps we'll even see a 13800X3D supported on AM5 in a few years.

I doubt it, at least not with the Infinity fabric as is, as it has become too slow and too badnwidth-constrained to keep up with modern CPUs and memory. They have to come up with a successor for AM6 that vastly reduces this bottleneck, because the Infinity Fabric will slow down any future chip on AM5 unless heavily reworked.

Gonna be interesting to see how Spark turns out. I've been hearing a lot of mixed feelings. Best case this is Nvidia's M1 moment but that'll depend on a bunch of unknown factors (price and performance for starters). Just have to wait and see, I guess...

Man, if true, from my perspective, Gabe seems like an anti-Tim: always making the right calls.

I think rumour is they're remaking BG1 as well. I'm not really excited about this, but I get why they're doing it - hopefully they will not remake it as 5e game in line with BG3, since that would suck IMO.

It's pretty much the same concept as AMD's Strix Halo, but with an ARM CPU and a bigger GPU.

I hope this forces AMD to make a successor to the Strix Halo with an RDNA4 or even RDNA5/UDNA GPU next year. Gorgon Point has the advantage of being able to use up to 192GB of RAM compared to Spark's 128GB, but the GPU is simply much weaker, more comparable to a 7600XT than a 5700.

I think they will stay at 2nd edition, as the classes and mechanics are so vastly different it would become a completely different game in the end. They might tweak them a bit and bring some additional characters and classes, but I don't think they'll deviate too much from core 2nd edition AD&D rules.

Yeah, I'm hoping they will keep 2e, though it's fucking Hasbro and WotC, so who knows - maybe they've decided they are doing full remake and in need to promote 5.5e more (since it's not going that hot) stuck that in instead of 2e.
