The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap Unofficial PC Port Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-legend-of-zelda-the-minish-cap-unofficial-pc-port-released/
MatheoVignaud has just released an unofficial native PC port for The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. As such, PC gamers will be able to enjoy another Zelda game that was exclusive to Nintendo’s consoles.
For those who did not know, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap is a Zelda game that came out on Game Boy Advance in 2004. It serves as a prequel to Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures, telling the origins of the Four Sword and the villain Vaati.
(… Three paragraphs describing the game...)
As with most unofficial PC ports we’ve seen these past couple of years, Nintendo won’t be able to shut it down. TMC does not contain any assets from the game. Therefore, Nintendo won’t be able to send MatheoVignaud or GitHub a DMCA notice.
You can go ahead and download this unofficial PC port of The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap from this link. From what I can see, all the ROM files are compatible with it. Therefore, you won’t be limited to one specific version. You can use the US, the EU or the JP ROM.

The second part of the Tuesday gaming news:

PC players aren't Grand Theft Auto 6's 'core' audience, Take-Two CEO says, and that's why we have to wait for it
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/pc-players-arent-grand-theft-auto-6s-core-audience-take-two-ceo-says-and-thats-why-we-have-to-wait-for-it/
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be out on November 19, unless it gets delayed again (never say never), but only on console. There's no doubt that GTA 6 will come to PC eventually, but officially, it still hasn't been announced for our platform and therefore does not exist. Why? In an interview with Bloomberg, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the company's priority is "serving the core," and that, apparently, is console.
>> I better don't say anything.

Microsoft ended MS-DOS support 20 years ago, but the latest update for the best roguelike ever made still supports it anyway
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/microsoft-ended-ms-dos-support-20-years-ago-but-the-latest-update-for-the-best-roguelike-ever-made-still-supports-it-anyway/
September 14, 2000: That's the day Microsoft released Windows Millennium Edition, the second-worst iteration of Windows in its long history. It also marked the final release of MS-DOS, which for so many years had undergirded its operating systems. In 2006—two decades ago—Microsoft ceased long-term support for Windows 98 and Me, meaning that MS-DOS's life was truly over.
Two days ago the latest update for NetHack dropped, and you bet your ass it still supports MS-DOS, just like it did when it first released in 1987.
We already covered NetHack's surprise 5.0 release and some of its fun patch notes, but I had to dwell on this for just a minute. In the era of multimillion-dollar games releasing and shutting down within weeks, here's a game that's been steadily updated since 1987. It's only two years younger than Windows.

What colour car would James Bond never drive? IO had to have multiple meetings just to figure it out for 007 First Light while huge plot decisions went down easy
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/what-colour-car-would-james-bond-never-drive-io-had-to-have-multiple-meetings-just-to-figure-it-out-for-007-first-light-while-huge-plot-decisions-went-down-easy/
I'm a little nervous about 007 First Light, which—from what I've seen—seems to play everything a bit too safe and linear to really leverage IO's strengths as a studio. When I played First Light, I found myself asking if, perhaps, the Bond license-holders at Amazon were a bit precious about their character. Maybe IO simply couldn't get as whacky with someone else's intellectual property as it can with Agent 47.
But I guess I was wide of the mark, because when I asked 007 First Light franchise art director Rasmus Poulsen about what it was like to work with someone else's license, he said it was actually surprisingly easy to nail down the big stuff, like making 007 a young'un.
(...)
The things that actually demanded time to hammer out were issues you and I wouldn't dedicate a second's thought to. "Really weird things get discussed, right? … What colour car would Bond never drive? People think one thing, people think another thing. We go like, 'Well that's a weird discussion,'" recalls Poulsen.

I love the thought of geysers in Minecraft, but hate the fact I know just how my friends will use them
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/i-love-the-thought-of-geysers-in-minecraft-but-hate-the-fact-i-know-just-how-my-friends-will-use-them/
I'm pretty sure everyone has a group of friends they actively avoid playing Minecraft with, solely because you know the second you leave your chests or base unattended it will be wrecked and ruined. Don't get me wrong, I love a little giggle with my pals as much as the next person, but the number of times I've lost an inventory full of valuables because of a prank my friends have pulled have been enough to stop me from playing for a while in the past.
From elaborate piston traps to good old-fashioned TNT, the creative bounds of messing with your friends have no limits in Minecraft, and the upcoming Chaos Cubed update will inherently make this worse through adding the ability to craft geysers. With a magma block, a potent sulphur block, and a little pool of water, you can now create a blast of water that will send an unsuspecting player hurtling into the air.

Windrose should no longer threaten to significantly reduce your SSD's lifespan thanks to a fresh patch
https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/ssds/windrose-should-no-longer-threaten-to-significantly-reduce-your-ssds-lifespan-thanks-to-a-fresh-patch/
Windrose breached early access late last month. As you might expect from something a few port calls shy of a full release, it's not all been smooth sailing, with a number of Steam users saying that the pirate versus environment game has been hammering their SSDs. Thankfully, developer Kraken Express have now released a patch.

Not happy with this month, I own 4 games already and Diablo being Battle.net really irks me.

If, for some reason, you've ever wondered how it would be to have an aquarium on your PC desk, congratulations! A youtuber that makes aquariums has done exactly that. And it's awesome:

Thanks for the Humble Choice update, Rhonin.

HU is specifically singling out nVidia for them claiming frame generation is increasing performance and all their BS marketing around FG.

I think most of us associate one with the other, just like upscaling is DLSS for a lot of people.

The third part of the gaming news isn’t as long as part two, but you may want to rest before jumping into it:

A gaming CEO just said 'We’ve been a little bit too romantic about the idea that we should have employees and give people long-term job security', and doesn't that sum up everything wrong with the industry right now
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/a-gaming-ceo-just-said-weve-been-a-little-bit-too-romantic-about-the-idea-that-we-should-have-employees-and-give-people-long-term-job-security-and-doesnt-that-sum-up-everything-wrong-with-the-industry-right-now/
>> It’s the CEO of the studio that made the Monument Valley games.

I can understand his feeling, considering he has a team of about 30 devs.

But considering that the Monument valley look like they were developed by a single developer or a team of less than 5 while at some point they were over 40 developers in the company, it begs the question about how they run their company more than anything else.

Just because she, or whoever is in charge of that at the company, is a bad manager, that doesn't mean that the people working there deserve less than others.

The following statement: "There are people doing really, really well in those spaces on PC for much smaller budgets, that we will never be able to achieve because we're based in London and have employees with pensions and so on." is prove of their missmanagement and automatically disqualifies anything she says.

On the other hand, I'm very happy with this month.
A lot of 80+ games, the PC version of Shin Megami Tensei 5 even has a MetaScore of 90.

Only had Crysis 3 Remastered of those games.
I've played Diablo IV via (cheap) GamePass the first months when it launched, always wanted to buy it on sale to play it with other classes.

Ok, I don't know how reliable is this site and I don't recall seeing any other articles about this subject depite the following article being over 1 month old so, take it with a pinch of salt:

Google Chrome Secretly Downloads Huge Local AI Models
https://winaero.com/google-chrome-secretly-downloads-huge-local-ai-models/
Google Chrome automatically installs local neural network components on user systems via default configurations. The browser downloads a 4GB local version of Gemini Nano without explicit user consent. The system activates this model during interactions with Google services, and Google enables these options by default.

I don't use Chrome and, therefore, I can't test if this is true and if the guide to remove the files and to stop Chrome from downloading again works or not.

I think it's strange that something like this has gone unnoticed for so long, but I decided to share it with you just in case we start hearing it and it gains more credibility. And well, because it's Google and they're capable of this and more.

British equivalent of MAGA or what? As in, doesn't seem to know how the world works outside of his country...

If he doesn't want to pay pensions, he'll need to go to the US... but I doubt he'll be able to do so on the same budget anymore, as wages are gonna be way higher.

Honestly? I think she's just trying to make up excuses to justify why the company spends more money than other similar companies to make similar sized games.
