One article not "mentioning" Sony doesn't mean they've written them off as serious competitors. Not by a long shot. Those DRM policies would have remained if the PS4 wasn't a direct threat.

You might be right, but seeing how they waited to make the change. I wouldn't be surprized if retailors and pre orders didn't have a say.
Plus, I think if they really thought Sony was a threat, they would match the price and eat an extra $100 per unit. They could easily do that for say the first 6 million or so. That is just an advertising budget for them.
