it will give you feels because it has zombie tropes

that translates to good gameplay right?

I don't think you have played it.

I have not played it. My friends have played it.

I did play The Walking Dead though, which is why I'm so bored with another "MY FEELZ BRO" zombie game being unanimously declared game of the year.

TWD was pretty meh. Gameplay was outright bad. TLOU looks like it has better gameplay of course, but still seems way too easy.

Well I really think you should play it. Before I did, I was mad that just another Zombie game was being turmpeted around as game of the year. I still don't think it is game of the year, but it really works hard to break some tropes and create interesting, and scary situations. I wanted to dislike this game going in, because I was annoyed with everyone shouting it's praises, but it really deserves a lot of the praise it gets. It's a fantastic game, with a fantastic story.

Also, it is not too easy on normal mode, and hard is crushing. That seems like a lame argument.

Possibly.

If not a single person who has played the game confirms what I'm afraid of then I admit I'm wrong, but until that I remain sceptical.

Modern games so often have these problems I've described.

Just play the game man.

The gameplay and the story are mixed very well and the tension is there throughout the game. If you watch Adam Sessler's review on Rev3, he says he wouldn't describe the game as "fun" but "dark and grim." He compares it to watching a movie. Not all movies are necessarily fun to watch, but they catch your interest and have you connect to the characters and feel emotionally attached to them. That is how The Last Of Us is. If you play the entire game through, from start to finish, you will feel as if you have just experienced something amazing. This game received many perfect scores from reviewers for a reason.

How long did you play? Which part of the game was it?

The gameplay and the story are what are good about the game. The game has a "survival" aspect to it that you can only "get" if you start the game from the beginning. You have limited ammo, you need to scavenge for supplies in case you are forced into combat and since you can't always sneak your way past enemies. The game can be hard in certain parts, even at normal difficulty. I wouldn't recommend it for casuals go like to run and gun. You can't play this game like that.

I suggest you take a look at some of the reviews. They'll do a better job at explaining what's so good about it.

I've hit a couple of hard spots on normal difficulty. If you think the game is too eays, then increase the difficulty. That's what it is there for.....

The game does remind of The Walking Dead. Not the episodic games but the TV Show. The Last of Us is the closest you'll get to a AAA Walking Dead game. If you love TWD TV show, you'll love The Last of Us. If you like Resident Evil, you'll play the Last of Us and wonder why Resident Evil doesn't have characters you care about.

Basically, if you want more than just a shoot-em-up dudebro shooter or zombie game, get this game.

I personally didn't feel the gameplay was particularly great either. Its kinda like Splinter Cell mixed with Resident Evil. With instant deaths!

Its the story that really pulled me in.

For me the gun combat wasn't anything new but the melee and weapon combat was amazing and probably the best I have ever seen.

It is not Call of Duty, I cannot explain to you why I think the gun and combat overall is perfect: it supposed to be like this.

A good war game would never have controls like Call of Duty or health regeneration, war is freaking hell, it supposed to be tense.

Oh, I agree I loved the gun combat, but I can also see why some people don't like it. I'm just saying the melee and weapon combat was the best I have ever seen.

Pretty much any videogame can be summarised into the sum of its parts to make it seem less than it is. I won't start listing examples because it'll probably lead to derailing the thread but just think about some games you've played and think "What did I actually do in these games and how often did I repeat it?". Did that make them into lesser games?

I haven't actually played TLOU yet, so I won't offer my personal opinion on it. Suffice to say, though, that plenty of people - both reviewers and the general public - seem satisfied with what it there.

Jesus Christh man, YOU GOT TO PLAY IT. Give it 2 hours, on NORMAL setting, from the very beginning, IT WILL GRAB YOU and it will not let go till the very end. It took me almost 30 hours to finish, and it was an incredible experience =D

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I am playing thru the game right now. While I love the story and fighting elements, the fav thing about the game imo is the deep leveling up/item gathering and collectibles. I am going thru every nook and cranny to try and get every item and upgrades. its awesome tho I am getting a bit tired of pitsburgh.

<a href="https://psnprofiles.com/fauzman"><img src="https://card.psnprofiles.com/2/fauzman.png" border="0"></a>

After playing through the entire game, I only encountered two problems. One was a glitch where I fell in the water between the crack of concrete and a car and Joel disappeared and I had to restart the game. The other being one battle sequence that felt random and forced. It brought upon some questions I had and just seemed to be there for gameplay's sake. Other than that though, no complaints. And even those aren't enough to take anything away from how amazing the game was overall.

The gameplay looks very simple and dumbed down to me. I don't see any difference to Uncharted which to me played like an interactive movie (to me most modern HD games are essentially interactive movies). The only difference seems to be the pacing, if Uncharted was designed to be 30-70 stealth versus gunfight, in The Last of Us that ratio is a bit more adjustable according to your style.

I sneak up to an enemy and then I'm given a visible prompt to hit triangle or square to trigger a fancy takedown animation. Where's the fun in that?

Also what I hate is that the characters are giving clues all the time by talking, so where's the challenge in traversing the environment and figuring out puzzles?

People including journalists seem to be totally engulfed by hype, I feel like an honest opinion and review is hard to find about this game.

I agree with this.

And yes, I completed the game (me and my friends were taking turns whenever someone died/got tired). We finished it in 2 weekends, I barely played during the second one because it was the same thing over and over. Except for a boss fight now and then.

Yes, it is a good game, the story and characters are outstanding in the game industry but the gameplay isn't. It was pretty easy to abuse the so "good" AI.
