How long did you play? Which part of the game was it?
The gameplay and the story are what are good about the game. The game has a "survival" aspect to it that you can only "get" if you start the game from the beginning. You have limited ammo, you need to scavenge for supplies in case you are forced into combat and since you can't always sneak your way past enemies. The game can be hard in certain parts, even at normal difficulty. I wouldn't recommend it for casuals go like to run and gun. You can't play this game like that.
I suggest you take a look at some of the reviews. They'll do a better job at explaining what's so good about it.
