PS 4 9 times PS 3 ? I dont think so Tim.
PS3 = 400gflop RSX+ 200gflop Cell= 600gflop so PS4 is just 3 times PS3 strictly speaking.

VGC didn't have old MK sales. |
For info, Wiki suggests 2.5 million copies of MKII were shipped for release week alone.
Mortal Kombat was a much bigger franchise in the 16/32 bit eras.

Where are you getting your numbers from?
RSX was 176 GFlops.
Cell was 12.8 for each SPE so 12.8 x 6 (6 SPEs available for games): 51.2 GFlops
Total = 227.2 GFlops

Yea I know, Double Helix, but I really wanted to see one of Rares IP's get good representation on a MS console. So far, all we got was a good Conker Remake (Live and Reloaded), and that's about it. |
it's just that you said MS can "do so much more with Rare" but they're no doing anything with rare, with their's ip being developed by someone else. oh, the N64 days, fck MS for destroying rare.

Guys I have 31 years... I lived MK and KI ages... I was a hardcore game already.
Before MK2 Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Jonny Cage, etc were already worldwide icons... the first MK combat made the MK famous... after that the MK2 because a high expected sequel (and it didn't disapointed)... the hype for MK2 was crazy due MK original.
Ed Boom and John Tobias were cult names already before MK2.
The sales in VGC are wrong... I don't have any data but I'm pretty sure MK did close to 5 million for SNES/MegaDrive and MK2 over 5 million for both too.
KI never did that... I lived the hype for MK and KI... and KI never had the same hype level than MK.
LOL the Wii U is like 1.25 times as strong as the 360, and the PS4 is about 12-16 times stronger based on simple math (Not because 16x the ram, that is a coincidence)!
The X1 from my estimates is probably 6-8 times stronger but IDK for sure because MS keeps hiding it...

KI was a massive arcade success that was ported to Snes to enjoy more success. While KI was in its prime of sucess MK was lurking in the dark with some horrible iterations like MK4. |
Street Fighter wasnt a niche fighter it owned the arcades and the home consoles. Killer Instinct was a large favorite to watch but how many people were afraid to play it? Many. It would take over arcades but the barrier of entry was too great for casuals. Look at Fallon vs Spencer. Spencer's button mashing and still couldnt even complete a five hit combo. He needs an easier game to play. Street Fighter had a small barrier of entry that only came down to special moves. After that it was pretty much a mental chess match back then. Today its about working up to your major specials via a bar, but experienced gamers dont even need that. That adds insult to injury for them.
Killer Instinct is the wrong game to show to wider, much broader audience. They should've just showed Kinect or COD and been done with it. Those are the games that really don't need to be shown at E3. Its more meant for Fallons crowd.
