X360 * 2.5 = WiiU * 5 = Xbone * 1.5 = PS4

That's pretty much how I see it based on all the various specs. Of course if Xbone is downclocked... it might change a little.

In the end I don't think it will matter.

WiiU may get ignored just for being Nintendo and/or lack of DRM.
PS4/XB1 will have essentially identical 3rd party and that's over 90% of their games anyone cares about. WiiU's 3rd party ports will be close enough to not matter as well. Same game lower res/AA/etc.

XBone is about as powerful as PS4, and WiiU isn't that much more powerful then current gen consoles. Also PS4 is 9x more powerful then PS3, so if anything

X360 * 1.2 = PS3 * 1.4 = WiiU * 5.5 = XBOne * 1.15 = PS4.

PS 4 9 times PS 3 ? I dont think so Tim.

PS3 = 400gflop RSX+ 200gflop Cell= 600gflop so PS4 is just 3 times PS3 strictly speaking.

To the peeps squabbleing....

Mortal Kombat was a controversial game because it showed blood on the Genesis version, and no blood on the SNES version. It was a really popular game in the arcade (to my memory), and a modestly popular game on consoles. Killer Instinct was just as big on arcades (to my memory) if not bigger, but as a console game it was a lot more talked about.

If VGC numbers put KI above MK, I believe it. Post 16-bit though, both franchises kinda fell apart. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom (and others) managed to hold popularity until their reboot this gen, but MK is a dying franchise, and Killer Instinct is basically already dead....The XBone game is a free download, not a full retail game. This could be to test the market, to see if they really want a new Killer Instinct, but still....sad.

SF is still the big 2D fighter franchise.

VGC didn't have old MK sales.

For info, Wiki suggests 2.5 million copies of MKII were shipped for release week alone.

Mortal Kombat was a much bigger franchise in the 16/32 bit eras.

Where are you getting your numbers from?

RSX was 176 GFlops.

Cell was 12.8 for each SPE so 12.8 x 6 (6 SPEs available for games): 51.2 GFlops

Total = 227.2 GFlops

RSX

  • Floating Point Operations: 400.4 Gigaflops ((24 * 27 Flops + 8 * 10 Flops) * 550)
Nvidia said this btw.
CELL

. PlayStation 3's Cell CPU achieves a theoretical maximum of 230.4 GFLOPS[3] in single precision floating point operations and up to 100 GFLOPS[4] double precision using iterative refinement for the solution of linear equations.

Killer Instinct is a free download?

This doesn't sound like a game, but a demo.....MS could do so much more with Rare, looks like one of my biggest reasons to own a One just went out the window...

it's not even developed by rare.

Yea I know, Double Helix, but I really wanted to see one of Rares IP's get good representation on a MS console. So far, all we got was a good Conker Remake (Live and Reloaded), and that's about it.

it's just that you said MS can "do so much more with Rare" but they're no doing anything with rare, with their's ip being developed by someone else. oh, the N64 days, fck MS for destroying rare.

dude, ate the very MAXIMUN, ps4 is 3x the wii u, with all 3 consoles being capable of all the modern effects and tools.

As far as Phil is concerned... if they have reduced its power as long as its still got 500 transistors and 8GB of DDR3 ram they havent reduced its power, because they haven't actually told anyone its power to start with.

The power of the XboxOne will probably only be revealed once its been launched, then we might get an idea based on the original leaked specs. Until then - well its a mute point I suppose.

The first Eurogamer DF comparisons will be very interesting, and should provide an initial insight.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Like the other guy said, 2 was bigger. MK2 was the game that made MK.

Just like Street Fighter, SF2 was THE Street Fighter, the big one.

Still MK is a bigger franchise then Killer Instinct because KI is only 1 game, and a kind of remake for N64. MK has around a dozen different games.

Guys I have 31 years... I lived MK and KI ages... I was a hardcore game already.

Before MK2 Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Jonny Cage, etc were already worldwide icons... the first MK combat made the MK famous... after that the MK2 because a high expected sequel (and it didn't disapointed)... the hype for MK2 was crazy due MK original.

Ed Boom and John Tobias were cult names already before MK2.

The sales in VGC are wrong... I don't have any data but I'm pretty sure MK did close to 5 million for SNES/MegaDrive and MK2 over 5 million for both too.

KI never did that... I lived the hype for MK and KI... and KI never had the same hype level than MK.

LOL the Wii U is like 1.25 times as strong as the 360, and the PS4 is about 12-16 times stronger based on simple math (Not because 16x the ram, that is a coincidence)!

The X1 from my estimates is probably 6-8 times stronger but IDK for sure because MS keeps hiding it...

Somethings that I find curious and not genuine.
1. I don't trust Phil Spencer, he doesn't seem to believe his own hype. He doesn't even know how powerful the Xbone is.

2. Killer Instinct was a niche arcade classic game and probably only one person in the audience outside of Fallon and Quest Love know what that game is let alone that it is on the Xbox One if this is their first time hearing about it resurfacing.

3. Why didn't they showcase the Xbone in its case just like this at E3? Scared the gamers might not be impressed?

4. Killer Instinct is not a free download, Jago's arcade playthrough is free, everything else is payable. He needs to state the facts because the chances are the audience doesnt know or even care. With casuals you need to be blunt about the product and tell the truth or else you're taking advantage of their ignorance. Specifics are key because one thing I've learned from working in retail is that if you miss a point and let the consumer buy the product out of ignorance, consumers come back pissed or confused and you're lucky if you get to give them an explaination as to why they should keep the product.

KI was a massive arcade success that was ported to Snes to enjoy more success. While KI was in its prime of sucess MK was lurking in the dark with some horrible iterations like MK4.

Street Fighter wasnt a niche fighter it owned the arcades and the home consoles. Killer Instinct was a large favorite to watch but how many people were afraid to play it? Many. It would take over arcades but the barrier of entry was too great for casuals. Look at Fallon vs Spencer. Spencer's button mashing and still couldnt even complete a five hit combo. He needs an easier game to play.  Street Fighter had a small barrier of entry that only came down to special moves. After that it was pretty much a mental chess match back then. Today its about working up to your major specials via a bar, but experienced gamers dont even need that. That adds insult to injury for them.

Killer Instinct is the wrong game to show to wider, much broader audience. They should've just showed Kinect or COD and been done with it. Those are the games that really don't need to be shown at E3. Its more meant for Fallons crowd.
