Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: Xbone Is 3x As Powerful Than X360 (Phil Spencer Twitter: It Was A Mistake)

I don't think Microsoft would underclock the GPU even if their console gets heating issues. Xbox loyalists would prefer Red Ring of Death 2.0 over having a massive gap in performance when compared to PS4.

I reckon Microsoft already solved the problem by making the console huge in size to improve venting and cool off the console.

The downgrade is not about heat issues... it is about yield issues... production issues of the chip... if they can't even make the chip in the clock to 1.2TFLOPS the downgrade makes sense.

Three times the power just give this rumor more credibily.

in the morning M$ PR will say with the cloud it will be 10000000000000 times more powerful then the 360 i bet

Added the video into OP... KI and Forza 5 are the games played.

How many 360's is the PS4 again ethomaz?

6-7x in graphical terms

Nope. 7770 level GPU in XOne is 8x 360 (which MS pretty much confirmed). PS4 is 12x 360.

But I'm sure there will be certain individuals here who still believe that 7th to 8th gen jump is not so big that will call this crazy talk. ;)

Yeah. Graphically that video is nothing to shout about. At all.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Without context we don't know what power he means and how he measures it. People believing in the downclock now only wish this is to happen.
Look at the games they showed (the games that actually ran on the box) and tell me this is possible on WiiU...

PS4 = 1.84TFLOPS / 240GFLOPS = ~7.5x

Xbone = 1.2TFLOPS / 240GFLOPS = ~5x
Xbone = 900GLOPS / 240GLOPS = ~3.5x * downgrade rumor

12x lol

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-06-14-xbox-one-has-power-of-10-xbox-360-consoles-says-microsoft

In a closed-door meeting called "Xbox 101" attended by GamesIndustry International, the company stressed that Xbox One has "the computational power of more than 10 Xbox 360 consoles," and that "the cloud brings infinite additional processing power

it has INFINITE POWER!!!

yield issues don't result in downclock - only in wasted chips, less outcome of good chips. still please stop making people believe ps4 is 2x the power of xbone by now until anything is assured. i highly doubt you know how he measures power - without context the sentence is useless.

They are. Compare KI to Smash Bros, which admittedly has a lot more going on, and Forza to, erm...well I dunno but you get the point. Obviously this is not the best the Xbone can do, though. Far from it I hope.
