Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: Xbone Is 3x As Powerful Than X360 (Phil Spencer Twitter: It Was A Mistake)

WiiU has 352 GFlops. So no, the console is not (One) almost as powerful as a WiiU, it's much more powerful than it. Just like the PS4 is substantially more powerful than the Xbox One.

with an architecture close to the PC.... 50% more power is not a substantially more powerful.... and anyway we all know it's about game quality and features you use in the games and on the console..... i'd go back to Nintendo WiiU if they had the games I play especially the multiplayer ones....

Dude, never compare FLOPS of two different architectures and make conclusions from that - PS4/XOne are GCN, 360 is old VLIW5.

Here, this will help, it's represents aggregate of lot of benchmarks for gfx cards, so comparison is pretty easy with it (360 is around 12VP):

Interesting table... now tell me how you calculate this 12VP to 360 GPU?

Because if that table is right the 360 GPU is more close to 18VP than 12VP.

Edit - Just to be clear the 360 GPU is equivalent to Radeon X1800.

No, not really, it is based on similar architecture, specially TMU and ROP, but shader units have more in common with R600 (2xxx) family. If you look at 2600Pro/XT, 360 is basically 2 of those slapped together, but at lower clock and significantly lower combined memory bandwidth. Some math and educated guesstimation are required to get to that number at the end.

Actual performance is higher of course, but considering we can't really measure how much specific customizations play role in final products, taking just vanilla numbers is a good starting point for the sake of discussion (hence, 141VP of 7850 for PS4, and 96VP of 7770 for XOne, though in reality, both solutions perform lot better).

Nope. 7770 level GPU in XOne is 8x 360 (which MS pretty much confirmed). PS4 is 12x 360.

But I'm sure there will be certain individuals here who still believe that 7th to 8th gen jump is not so big that will call this crazy talk. ;)

PS4 = 1.84TFLOPS / 240GFLOPS = ~7.5x

Xbone = 1.2TFLOPS / 240GFLOPS = ~5x
Xbone = 900GLOPS / 240GLOPS = ~3.5x * downgrade rumor

12x lol

1 gflop old architecture =/= 1gflop new architecture

you cant compare that so easily. 240 Xbox gflop are not as capable as 200 GCN gflop on either ps4 or xbone.Because of efficent design you can put more of the raw compute power to better use than in 8 year old architecture. Achieving the same with less or more with the same.

He read GAF lol

Would be nice if that's not mentioned anymore now but no doubt everyone will say he's lying as he represents Microsoft sigh...

Sooooo is it 8 or 3 beeeecause there is a huge difference lol I know he said it was a mistake but that doesnt sound right to me.

UPDATED: The video... I guess the KI graphcis was better at E3.

Looks the same to me.

They were probably using the same machines used at E3.

Yeah. Graphically that video is nothing to shout about. At all.

All the PS4 and Xbox One titles we've seen thus far look like polished 7th gen games or what some might call PC games.

Perhaps they could have wowed you by showing you more cienmatic scenes. But I think they just wanted to demo simple games you can jump in and play.

I mean visually the game Ryse looks great. But its probably not the best game to demo when you only have a minute.

Well glad that's cleared up. Big big difference though...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

no wonder they used computers at e3, they didnt want to let people down with what it will really look like. It is going to be more dependent on cloud computing. it doesnt look like that requirement will ever go away.
