Is there a reason why we always get the XB360 first? Or does it just work out that way? (Also, I'm predicting pathetic all around, except 3DS.)

This is a pretty pathetic month.

a combination of the collapse in a nontraditional gaming group pushing up numbers in 08 and console manufactures not cutting prices. the entry for a 360 should not be 200 new right now. until there is a change in price nothing or a more compelling product nothing will change. right now that looks to be the ps4.
it will be interesting to see how long MS sticks to their guns about 24hour check ins if it tanks in the first year… i say this as an 11 year member of live. for me it is no xbox one if i cannot play the game with a disc or offer a better offline mode.

MS needs some product in their protfolio to crow about and gaming/nongaming has been getting thrashed as of late.... i think they should pimp hyper-v a bit more its a solid product. but really normally the home console with the lead sales lets know first. its been MS in the states for a long time now

GTA IV launched at the end of April 2008 and so did Mario Kart Wii in the U.S.....Wii sales were up over 300% in the first week: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/39572/USA/ Really not a good comparison. And look at May 2000, way lower than this year.

Didn't it have a sub-20k month before? So no surprise here. Wii U is bad as well, but it still has a chance to recover. Overall, the industry is crashing down hard. The upcoming transition is going to be tough, because at this point it looks like only a handful of franchises (CoD, Madden, Assassin's Creed; FIFA in Europe) will be able to pull in good numbers. The X1 is doomed to failure with its price point and the PS4's price only looks good in comparison to the X1. On its own, $399 is expensive too. It looks like being #1 in the console race won't cut it, just like being #1 in the handheld space doesn't mean much. The 3DS is absolutely dominating the PSV, but the numbers are still less than satisfying. |
Is it too soon for me to claim victory for smartphones?

I think tablets hade a much bigger impact than smartphones. Every kid in my family now plays with tablet's while they were all playing DS's a while back. My sister jut bought a $150 tablet just for my niece just for her to play games. That's like almost the same price as a 3DS but my niece wanted a tablet not a ''new DS''.

Ow I agree.. I see a lot of kids walking around with iPod touches and small tablets.. also woman playing games on them.. I think the casual market is more then satisfied with tablets and smartphones then we would like to admit..
