Amazing thread Rol, no suprise it's quiet in here

There is no faking over here. I have always supported and have been a vocal advocate for Microsoft on these forums but not anymore. I will not allow myself to endure anymore abuse from them.

I know that this will shock a lot of people when i say this but i honestly have to come clean.

As of today, Microsoft has officially lost me as a customer

Where is Basilzero? I need to talk with him. He is cool with those Sonyites and i was hoping he could get me in to their nation without being noticed. Due to my Microsoft background, i would get RIPPED APART if they found out about my MS background. The Sonyites tend to be nice but turn into absolute DEMONS when Xbox related news is fed to them. I've already made plans to get a Wii U since the Ninty fans are nice and helpful but a harmless MS guy like me wouldn't last an hour against those Sonyites

The two are not mutually exclusive. You can be a person who never intended to buy Xbone even before anything was known, and genuinely concerned about the erosion of consumer rights that the MS policies represent.

My attitude to Xbone is completely different to my attitude to Xbox360. For the most part (though everyone gets carried away from time to time) my view of Xbox360 was, as long as PS3 is successful enough for Sony to continue making Playstations, and it gets good games, I'm happy to live and let live. Sure I want Sony to be the most successful, but that doesn't equate to wishing other consoles to fail.

With Xbone, while the current DRM policies remain in place, I actively want it to fail. I do not want to see those policies become mainstream in consoles, and if Xbone wins this generation with these DRM policies then the other consoles (and especially Playstation) will fall into line. I do not want that!

OTOH if Xbone has a terrible start to the generation, rethinks it's aweful DRM policies, ditches them completely and fundamentally reforms the platform, then having Xbone eventually win the generation with [effectively] no DRM would be great. Because it will show that DRM on disc based games is commercial suicide and no one will ever try it again for as long as disc-based game distribution exists.

So Xbone failing while it persists with DRM and anti-consumer policies = good for gaming over all and long term IMO.
Xbone achieving great success while operating with DRM and anti-consumer policies = bad for gaming over all and long term.
Xbone initially failing, then doing a 180 degree turn around on DRM and then achieving great success = awesome for gaming over all and long term.

This, except for me, ive always been indifferent toward MS xbox division. So I wasnt going to buy xbone, but ive never thought that MS would go so far.

No options for Yes - But after a WiiU/PS4? Some people buy more then 1 console, and if One is our 3rd/3 consoles, we can bash all we like. I was somewhat pleased with the 360, but not as pleased as the PS3 or Wii, and Microsoft gave me a real bad experience owning the console (mostly because of poor customer service). So I'll still get a One for the handful of exclusives, but not until 2020 or something.

Yes, I complained about paid XBL, and YES I'm still planning on buying an XB One.

Yes, in the past (and present) I have complained about too many Halo, Forza, and Gears games, and YES I'm still planning on buying an XB One.

Yes, I think Sony cares about their games, but YES I'm still planning on buying an XB One

Just because someone has this view about Microsoft, doesn't mean they won't get an XB One. Rol, you can't just state your opinion as facts, no company is perfect, and as flawed as Microsoft is, I still want Quantum Break, Crimson Dragon, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, and future exclusives. I may have lost interest in Halo, and Gears/Forza might not mean as much to me as what they once did, but MS is capable of making some excellent exclusives.

Heck, the 360 goes down to $130 often, and for $130 + $20 a game (now, for old ones) a 360 is worth it for Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, and the Japanese targeted exclusives alone.

Just to be clear about your principles: You don't care about consumer rights / think that MS policies for the Xbone are bad for the consumer? Or you do care about consumer rights but you don't think MS's Xbone policies are any worse than their Xbox360 policies so Xbone doesn't deserve any more criticism over and above what 360 deserves/ed?

Or something else?

Also I think you should clarify what the first option means. I interpret it to mean I would have got a Xbone, except with the DRM crap I have changed my allegience. Some people may have chosen this option thinking they were supporting Xbone as is. Which interpretation is the one you intended?

Over the last few weeks I began to wonder, if I am the only insecure person who has to constantly reaffirm themselves that they are supporting the right company. Judging from numerous posts in Xbox One related threads, I believe that I am not alone. But I am interested to find out exactly how many people are like me. You know, never had any interest in buying the next Microsoft console, but now post in a way that suggests that Microsoft is putting them off with all of their decisions. Consumer rights being the most obvious option to hide one's true intentions.

In the past, did you complain about Xbox Live being a paid service? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

In the past, did you say that you are tired of Halo/Forza/Fable/Gears of War games? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

In the past, did you state that Sony cares more about gamers than any other console manufacturer? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

In the past, did you talk about how the focus on "mature" gaming isn't up your alley? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

In the past, did you troll a lot in Kinect threads? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

So let's come clean, everyone. Microsoft is an evil corporation. Always have been, always will be. Let's not pretend that only now they are bad. Gaming would be better off without them, nothing has changed about that in the last month. The only difference is that now TV would also be better off without them.

Your poll is biased and the first result is going to come out more.

But no you're not alone. In fact the real question was : will casual and stupid people make the X1 one a success by ignorance? Well as it was showed here : http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=162118&page=1#
NOPE.

I have to say, I hated the first Xbox because I was yound, hated Microsoft and their awful approach to console. Then with the Xbox 360...I simply was impressed and even bought one.

Because the real issue is not the pricing choice, or the games, or the exclusive, or the controller but it really IS a matter of RIGHTS and FREEDOM. And that's why it's not or shouldn't be a console war at all, the PS4 is not that much better than the Xbone, it's about consumers and gaming.

I owned the first Xbox and the 360. Honestly the DRM sucks and all but I could get past that I guess

The deal breaker is the Kinect though. If I can't unplug it, can't buy the Xbox One

I loved Forza and Gears and I'm going to miss them dearly

Hang out with people that have a Xbox One.

I'm not buying one at launch but I know someone that is. So I'll be playing Killer Instinct at his place.
