Forums - Nintendo - I have never seen Nintendo so out of touch.

It doesn't surprise me that this was a divisive E3.

However, I don't see how it's the worst one. This was several times better than the last couple of E3s combined.

There was barelly anything new to get excited for, lacking such wow factor is not what I remember Nintendo for.

They sacrificed more power in the box to have a fancy tablet controller, and yet in the trailers they completely fail to mention any implementation of it at all ?

Also, this is second wave of software, there should be games showcasing a more decent level of graphics and physics, but appart of X that clearly seems like a next gen game, and mario kart 8 to a less degree, the software just looked... 360ish...

@bold I would add Bayonetta 2 to the nice list.

I don't member being excited for anything at the previous two E3's, but at this one we got first footage of Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8, and Bayonetta 2. Before then, those games were merely confirmed to exist. To me, that's nearly equivalent to not saying anything about them at all.

And yet it was still better than last year's E3 lol. (As far as Wii-U is concerned)

Though I do agree the lack of 3DS discussion made me go /sadface.

Wish they had announced more bundles/colors for NA :(

I think the 3ds had so much stuff announced before E3 that it really didn't need any more focus for the rest of the year.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

I already know I am buying it, so I look at nothing. Same goes for Pokemon X & Y.

You are not even gonna look at @RichIGN's tweets when he was at the Pokemon X/Y developer conference last night?

There's a load of new information he tweeted that includes information about customization of the character, sky battles, new pokemon/type/skills and the way to travel and etc.

Nope.

Me and my fiance play Pokemon together, so I am better off going into it not knowing a thing, just as she will.

Constantly checking up on titles tends to ruin them. For the last year or so I always go on a media blackout for games I plan on getting.

You said it

Well when Nintendo had that direct in January (I think) when they announced lots of big games, everyone was saying Nintendo have thrown away all their aces and haven't left any big reveals up their sleeves for E3...
E3 comes around and this turns out to be true, then people act disappointed???
Dunno what some people were expecting.

I really like all the games they have shown but I am disappointed that Nintendo doesn't want to leave their comfort zone.

This is pretty good description of their situation. They are very resistant to embracing any new tech that other companies are using.

I've yet to see a single Nintendo game on WiiU that creates that sort of interest/excitement in the gamepad's features (yes including NintendoLand).

Well there is Game & Wario the gamepad pandemonium. Pikmin, Mario Party and Wii Fit U all have good support for the screen. Also Mario 3D World can see new areas and angles with the screen. There is always the off tv feature but than i guess we went over that in the last couple of months.

Yes, there are some nifty uses of it.  But unfortunately nothing that grabs people's attention the way Wii's motion controls or even Kinect did.

X. Yes, X. The only game from that Direct that actually deserves praise. It looks stunning, fun and extremely promising. Sadly though, it caters to a niche and won't help sell the console all that much.

You cant say that X is niche. I showed the trailer to my brother who is a complete casual gamer, and he said it looked really awesome. And you never know how much a game will sell. You really seem like a cup half empty, kind of guy.

If you're trying to tell me that JRPGs aren't a niche kind of game type, you're definitely not aware of the state of the industry and have been living under a rock for the last decade. Your anecdotal episode with your brother doesn't in any way, shape or form give a representation of the market.

But don't take my words for it. We're on VGChartz. Just do some research on the last JRPG titles and see for yourself how most of them sell around the world. Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series being the 2 exceptions. ^_-

Niche to what demographic? Do you think the US is the only country in the world?

Niche anywhere but in Japan. And even there, they've seen much better days.

Do you think that calling a game "niche" is an insult or something? -__-

Look at Xenoblade, The Last Story, Tales of games, Lost Odyssey, Valkyria Chronicles, Nier, Shin Migami Tensei... etc.
