Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft can still trump Sony by...

-> Dropping the 24 hours check.

-> Not making the users pay for Gold to play online.

The used games would still be a turn-off to a lot of people, but they could overcome it (Microsoft, I mean) eventually.

I'm asking too much, but hey.

The second might, but the drop the 24 hour check only makes Microsoft match Sony.  But you need to read the way the winds are blowing at this point.  It is now pay to play online.  If people don't like it, go to Nintendo.

The Gold isn't going anywhere but they can easily eliminate the 24 hour check by making people play with the disc in when the console is offline.

I think M$'s best bet is to make Kinect optional and release a $399.99 SKU without the kinect. Plus take away all the DRM BS.

But I don't think either will happen.

I see some people in here saying they need to drop the price below the PS4 etc. No actually they don't. If they equal the price and drop the 24hr implications by required people to play with a disc offline then it's a wrap. There were no games shown during the PS4 conference that would sway Xbox fans to move to PS4. If any are moving it is because of the price and DRM. Xbox One clearly has the better exclusive lineup.

I don't think the 24 hour check is a problem.

If you're already connected to the Internet, it isn't going to be an issue.  The console will be updating the program Guide if you use it, and it'll be looking for updates to both the system and games.  So if all of that takes place at the same time, awesome.

Two two issues I see are for people who don't have Internet connections on their console, and for the every hour situation if you're on someone else's console.

I think they can solve that issue simply by requiring the disc to be in the drive.

With PSN+ on the PS4 now required for online multiplayer gaming, there is no reason for Microsoft to drop the fee.  What they need to do is make Xbox Live Gold subs a per console subscription, not a per user one.  They're essentially doing this, but they're tying it to one account.  I think I understand the logic behind that, and that is essentially to ensure that your Gold sub is portable to a console that might not have someone with an Xbox Live Gold sub.

Not to mention, infrastructure is expensive, you have to pay for it.

Microsoft's trade-in policy isn't really any different than Sony's, except for the fact that Microsoft has clearly said that it is up to individual publishers as to what they'll do.  I don't think publishers will deviate from the current norm.  I'll be interested to hear more of what Sony and Microsoft will do for non-retail game purchases and DLC.  Both have said you'll be able to trade-in "retail" disc-based games, but neither have said how downloaded games will be handled.

What Microsoft needs to do is provide a better solution for when gaming on a secondary console, when you're completely offline, and to provide a solution for renting and lending, both of which could be easily solved and would one-up Sony.

Ms policy isn't that different than Sony's? Have you been paying attention lately?

buying all their own stock from stores and then putting those consoles back in the warehouses to be resold.

They already trump Sony on so many levels its not even funny....
I don't see the issue with check ins every 24 hour.... I'm always on and don't see the point of not being always on...

mandatory install.... I actually plan on not buying a single disc this generation if they release in GoD on day one.... Disc are so obsolete they shouldn't have been invented in the first place...

and that not sharing game is weird but from what I get you can pretty much retrieve your library on any xb1 when you log in with your gold account on a friend box.... And you can share your entire library with up to 10 people that is more than my entire household and all the friends I'm willing to share my games with... And to me this is way more efficient and modern than the pseudo landing process Sony tries to make appear like better... On one side I can give access to my entire library to 10 people on the other I have to land the disc (risk its destruction or loss) and can't play with it while its landed... And that for each and every game.... So yeah I'm limited to 10 people but come on this is 2013

and finally second hand fee is up to devs to enforce or not... Which is pretty much a non MS issue...

to that you add all the goodies MS masters way better than anyone else... With also the heavy investment they do on infrastructure... So I don't see where Sony beats it for me beside some old school standards that are great... But nowhere close to enough for me and my entertainment needs.....

And that's where the issue is. Seriously?

Microsoft puta nail in its own coffin with this used games and signing in to live every 12 hours and price

VITA 32 GIG CARD.250 GIG SLIM & 160 GIG PHAT PS3

Well if they dropped it then I'll switch my pre order to Xbox One.

Also taking away live subscription as a way to access apps like Netflix etc . It's just been revealed you will not need a premium sub on sonys machine to access and use your apps . Microsoft should rectify this ASAP

I'll trade paying for play but having access to your apps without doing so for free online play but paying to access your apps everyday.

Took some time to understand what you are saying, LOL agreed though.
