well, if those bans are necessary or not but it's the fault of the people who get banned regularly and not the fault of those who report regularly. they pretty much know what they write and that this will probably be a ban for them. if they still write it even if they where already banned plenty of times i don't really feel bad for them. it's pretty much the opposite, i have to laugh about it when i read "why was i banned this time".

Yeah I know the point on there, you can't charge in on a specific console thread, but when someone even shows a hint of disdain and I see people getting banned thant it's just...."Really? for that?" 

When some good heated debate though would come out and at the end of the day you could come out at the end of it like say," Splendid argument good chap! Shall we get some tea tomorrow?" 

Not everyone was charm and butterflies back than, but a quite a good few would end like that. Now it's a hissy fit of rage and hate. People come out at the end of the day with a butt that's soar as can be and someone had a ban hammer taken to their head.

Who exactly am I hurting by calling Kinect dumb? Who's life am I destroying by simply calling it dumb?  Have you ever had a time when you thought something was just stupid but you didn't want/feel like going into extensive detail? That was that situation.

Never in my wildest dream would i have imagined that calling kinect dumb, on the internet of all places, would warrant disciplinary action. Never.

Apologies, but i just dont see where all this drama comes from. I see nothing different here than on other boards. There are rules, if you break the rules you get banned, if you dont you can keep on going. I doubt anyone is stopping you from delivering your opinion, but its our responsibility how we deliver that opinion.

When you put it that about displinary action I do see your point more.....It's just there is a time and place for certain things as well and I don't know the circumstances or context of that event. There is a difference between random trolling and trying to prove a point.

Without any context my mind simply goes to someone randomly going into a church and yelling "God is dumb" 

I may not beleive in god, and I will not go in church (thread) in which it's nothing but praise for something and claim that outright.

I will however try to rig up a logical debate if i feel they're missing a point on why i don't beleive that god exists (the issue at hand is right or wrong) if it is in an open forum subject. (Ex thread. Will kinect 2 be he next big thread? ....that's open game for debate)

If it's in a public area (general gaming forum) and someone is being an obnoxious zealot (fanb....errr console enthusiast) than I will most likely mock them in one way or another. They came to an open area spouting off ridiculous nonsense, someone shouldn't be getting a ban for pointing that out (which is my main point in this thread cause that's what i see happening a lot)

Speaking of which....next time a zealot tries converting you with a knock on the door. Offer them to join the cult of zultan or scientology and make stuff up....hilarity ensures.

Also, from my experience being a mod on forums in the past, where I WASN'T the power hungry type, I must say, that there literally are mods who just "look for trouble", even if there is no real trouble occuring, meaning they look for reasons to ban people. Meaning........a lot of people honestly should never be made mods. And many of those types DO become mods. Especially here, so it would seem.

It's not that you're hurting someone's feeling or offending them (although some people do take these things seriously).  It's a matter of comments like "Kinect is dumb" being counterproductive to intelligent conversation.  Comments like this tend to derail threads into petty arguments (Kinect is dumb! No Move is dumb! No Kinect is dumb!) and make it impossible for those who would like to have an actual conversation about a particular topic.

The point of this board isn't simply to emulate the real world, or give you a place to voice whatever you want.  The point is to provide a place for people to have meaningful conversations about these sorts of things.  Comments that make this more difficult should be moderated IMO.

I would prefer it if you bring in the worlds smallest violin. 

It kinda breaks my heart to see a community shattered by people who break down over the simplist issues. Clear and obvious trolling is a legit ban, i have nothing against those.  When i have to double and tripple check nothing i say though will in any way offend anyone what-so-ever in a console specific thread that has some thought in it against the grain or get banned using an oldschool approach of a quick mockery jab, get a quick laugh and than haha move on, Something is wrong there....

you've gone from a free forum with some light monitoring to make sure things don't get out of hand to a system which everything you say is under scrutiny. It's changed a lot.
