Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One requires internet for game activation

now i understand why EA drop the online pass thing... they dont need it no more... LOL

this means no used games right?

No, this means it will be handled more like Sonys first party games on the PS3 / PS Vita today. Games like PSABR, LBP Vita, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3 and a lot more already include an online pass. You can buy these games used, but you need to pay an extra fee to the publisher to play the game.

Sony blocks multiplayer or other content of the used game today. MS blocks the game completely.

I would not be surprised if Sony goes the same way like MS with the PS4 though.

But it doesn't bother me. I haven't bough a used game since Fifa 2001 I guess.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

So you need internet for registartion - for internet you need live - for live you need money. Thanks Microsoft but your consumer is in another castle. Going to search my old Game Boy and N64 to see what gaming was all about back then.

So online is required and Microsoft has just re-worded it to make it sound different and not so much of a punch in the face?

I am sure as hell the MS pass to play just the game (even single player) will cost way more than 10$, maybe between 25$ and 40$
Also I think Sony will let publishers decide if they want to do this used games blocking, I'll vote with my wallet.

From my perspective, i'm all for this restriction. Guess why?

Because it's bad MS press?

I have no idea.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Whoever doesn't do this with their console will get my money.

It's out of the WiiU and PS4 now......

What a complete fuck up Microsoft.

Bad news for people without an internet connection and for those who buy used games.

So basically you need xbox live to activate a game

that would be horrible, but that's not what the OP says

cue people who love steam coming in and saying this sucks.

lol, wut? So your saying people love steam because it requires an internet connection? Sorry, but people love steam because of the huge discounted prices. People dislike the fact that steam requires an internet connection. Why compare two completely separate services with one another in the first place?

This feature is not good no matter what anyone sais about another service. Why even defend it? lol I'm sure it doesn't even effect you.
