Forums - Sales - Sony's weak side (portables) outselling Nintendo's (consoles) by 50% in 2013 - We do NOT need to talk about this

They're going to need to bring the PSP back to the main page. It's amazing how well it's hanging on. Sony has to be relatively pleased how well it's performing in some markets.

I'm a bit surprised that the Wii isn't bigger in those same markets, the way the PS2 was for many years. Does Nintendo push hard in developing countries?

For example, in africa, everybody plays on phones, cause they don't need tvs and computers. But cellphones are useful.

There are markets totally different from hours, and maybe these markets don't wanna pay hundreds of dollars in wii accessories. Or just prefer to play on the go.

BTW PS2 has a lot of success in south america right now

PSP has no support, and hasn't had for several years, in the place it's currently selling so much (Europe)

Is it still used as a machine to download ROM's on? That could still, and most likely, be a thing.

I'm thinking the same thing. Because software sales aren't great.

Global Software by Platform

Platform Weekly (change)                                   Total
Wii
 460,707 (-8%)
    844,795,543
PSP 100,225 (-24%) 273,362,544
PSV 95,568 (-39%) 12,393,285
WiiU 95,004 (-16%) 7,071,429

Is this last week?

It's funny how many people declare Sony's portables to be doing bad, and at the same time find Nintendo's console sales great!

The double standards!

Yeah, I just grabbed the most recent numbers.

The Wii and DS still do an awesome job at selling software. But weekly hardware sales is the only way to determine success. :-p

What bizarro world are you living in? Nobody is impressed with Wii U's sales.

Wii and DS sales have seen a massive decline. But still trounce Sony portables in software sales.

Cool. You should try comparing Nintendo handhelds to Playstation consoles next. :)

Then the winners can face off in a final showdown!

This year Sony consoles are also winning. It's win-win for Sony.

I don't follow. 3DS is ahead of PS3, DS is over 400k, and PS2 isn't even being tracked. Nintendo is winning this comparison.

Do you ever stay on topic? This discussion is about hardware NOT software.

Make a thread, if you wanna talk software sales.

so much discussion for nothing. There is no indication of trooling in this thread -

3.4m ps3+ps2 shipped in Q1 alone. At least a million of that is PS2 (in one quarter). 3DS is ahead of PS3 by...88k this year. So PS3+PS2 easily > 3DS + DS.

PS2 not being tracked here doesn't mean it isn't selling. I'd though you know that after all the adjustments

I assumed we were using VGChartz numbers. Isn't that what you used in the OP?
